assalamu alaikum sisters,

a couple of our most recent posts, got me thinking.  why dont' we share the things that make us happy?

superficial things that make you laugh or smile.. or deep things that make you content with your life or with your self..

please do share. it could be beauty tips, how you goof off with your kids, or play with them. it could be a self help book you find enlightening, it could be something with your Deen, your faith in Allah, what makes your faith strong .. what makes you at peace???

I really hope that all of you respond to this. may be in your words, some sisters will find benefit, solace, or tips that help her in her own life and gain more happiness.

May Allah grant you peace of mind, and contentment.. may we all gain eternal happiness in the Aakhirah Ameen.

Love and salaam (peace)

Wa alaikum salaam

There are lots of things that make me happy!  I try really, really, really hard to find little bits of joy in everything.

- CLEANING.  I know it sounds weird but I love cleaning.  I just love that feeling of totally satisfaction when you look around and realize your house is totally clean :-) It's just a great feeling.  I even love cleaning the cloth diapers LOL

- I love it when Danica wakes me up by bouncing around in her crib screaming MAAAAAAAAA.    MAAAAAAAAAA.  Then when I walk in she tells me all about her dreams and sleep in her sweet little baby talk.

- I love it when I finish a sewing project and it turns out even better than I thought it would.  It's such a happy feeling knowing that your hard work paid off and you've made something really beautiful.

- I like it when I have a hard time understanding a Quran surrah or hadith and then out of nowhere it just clicks.  Suddenly, I'm not confused and I just get it.  Alhamdulillah.

- HAHA I got happy right now when I spelt Alhamdulillah without needing to look at the spelling!

- I'm happy at the end of the day when I know my entire family is safe in their beds, sleeping.

Asalamu alaikum sisters,

Thanks for this post sister Proud:)  After you mentioned this, it occured to me that I find happiness in places that I had not thought about as such.

I find happiness is knowing that my hubby does think I am doing a good job and can remind me of the the good things I have done.  It makes me happy when I have a good day with the kids...a productive day, a non frustrated day:).  The pp mentioned cleaning...I am there, too.  I am happy when I can really clean and see the progress.  I am happy when I feel attractive.  I am happy when I see the kids having fun and learning.  I am happy when my family sits at the table to get good wholesome arabic food without fussing and force feeding:)  I am happy when I see that the kids and I are learning more about our deen.  I am happy when I DON'T drink that soda that I find myself so desparately wanting in stressful times.

Thank you sister for this post...in realizing that there are sooo many things that do make me happy.  One thing that this has made me realize is that a Success Journal is a very important tool for those of us who need to be reminded at the end of the day...

Al 7amdulAllah for last night, this day, and all the things that I have learned.  Insha'Allah He will continue to help us remember the things with which He has blessed us.  Ameen

As salaamu alaikum

I forgot one! CHARITY!  Charity makes me feel very, very, very happy.  It always has.  Even as a child my sister and I would do charity without ever being told.

It just feels right.  Helping people that is.  And not for reward, fame, or glorification.  It just feels like it's what we should be doing.

It feels as though I get a double dose of joy out of it.  I know that by the simple act of giving I help out someone in need.  Also, by giving, I purge myself of un-needed stuff.  I feel like it keeps me from becoming too self absorbed and superficial.

Giving to charity feels like that just got out of the shower, super clean, ready to go, warm and cozy feeling.  Very happy.

Alhamdulillah!

when everyone is in a great mood alhamdulilah, when my home is clean and organized alhamdulilah, when i pay attention to a duaa that has been answered alhamdulilah, when i go to the masjid with my family on the weekends alhamdulilah, when i can go to bed after fajr instead of rushing the kids to get ready for school alhamdulilah!! (one more day around here until the weekend inshaAllah- alhamdulilah!!), when my daughter picks up a new word from school and uses it outside of homework time totally on her own alhamdulilah! when one of my kids finishes hifz of a new surah alhamdulilah..when my husband plays with the kids while i get to read without distractions alhamdulilah, when i speak with my family on the phone alhamdulilah, and when i am surprised by meeting another western muslimah around here alhamdulilah..and there is no way i can count all the blessings, alhamdulilah!! mashaAllah this was therapy for me-alhamdulilah!! subhanAllah so easily we forget the good..may Allah make us of those who are most grateful.

and although we all have our struggles, our challenges, and hardships..the one thing i am most grateful for is that Allah has guided me to ISLAM, & i pray that He will continue to do so for me, my family, the Ummah, and those who don't even seem close to Islam at all. ameeeeeeeen.

I'm happy when my family is stuffed from a good home cooked meal. Then I know they'll be putty in my hands , that means no struggle at bath time or bedtime . I'm happy when I've been on the run doing all the errands and I come back to a clean house . I'm happy when all the laundry is done and my son picks up a clean shirt , smells and says "oooh clean thanks mama" I'm happiest when my children tell they are happy . I'm happy when I pray and that wave of calm comes over me . When I hear the athan come on and my little boy joins in reciting . I'm happy when I stop to think of the many blessings I have been given and knowing how much Allah loves me even when I fall short of my duties every day . I'm happy when DH decides to cook and he doesn't call me to the kitchen to help find anything he needs every two minutes .I'm happy when I close my eyes at night for sleep knowing all my little chicks are with me (DH the big chick) safe and sound under one roof .

Masha' Allah sisters,

such inspiration.. I found myself nodding and smiling while reading your posts.  alhamdulilaah for the little joys and the immense blessings he bestows upon us. ameen. alhamdulilaah that we are able to find happiness in the littlest of things. and are still humbled by the greater gifts from Allah. may Allah continue to shower you all with blessings and fill your lives with joy. Ameen.

I too find happiness in my children. when they memorize more Quran. read a new lesson in Arabic, bring me their report cards from school and then asking dad to pay them a dollar for each 100 and 99 and then running to put their money in their "wallets" lol.  I am overjoyed when I play with them hide and go seek. we laugh so hard I start coughing. lol, when I watch their games, and cheer them on like a crazy person, when they get their trophies at the end of the school year for the hard work they had done..  When I kiss them goodnight on their cheeks as I make sure they are sound asleep and tucked in..  On Eids when they run around the house looking for their gifts.. when they give my my good morning hug, my " love you ' hug,  'I'm Home' hug, "good night "hug. or a "just because " hug..

I find joy when my students at sunday school progressed from knowing nothing to reading words alhamduliaah. or when my teenage girl mothers call me happy with their daughter's implementing what we teach in class , at home.

when my girls and I do community service, or clean the masjid. or just go on a scavenger hunt..lol.

I am happy that Allah has blessed me with a husband that is fearful of Allah,

but like you all, I am most content that Allah has allowed my heart to be full of the love of HIM Azza wa jall. I am most content that my faith in Allah and His Qadar help me overcome , accept, and enjoy all that he has bestowed upon me,..

tears of joy, and humility overcome me, when I come to Muslim moms and find a new shahdah, or a sister who is sharing her triumph over her struggles, or thanking Allah for easing her problems..

alhamduilaah alhamdulilaah alhamdullilaah. for the little things and the great ones. alhamduilaah now and always..

and alhamdulaah for you my sisters, I love you all for the sake of Allah and leave you in His trusted care.

":And He gave you of all that you asked for, and if you count the Blessings of Allâh, never will you be able to count them "(15:34)

Love and salaam (peace)

Goodness Gracious!
I am happy because I am having a hard time finding an original reason for being happy that hasnt been posted yet! LOLOLOL

Every post has echoed the same sentiment! In addition to all your "happies," I am happy when I see my family happy because that means I am doing something right! As UMMI's, we create the ora of our homes and when our ora is in tact, so much in the home is in tact as well! I am happy knowing I have islam as my religion, happy when my children learn a new surah (they both just memorized surah Zilzalah masha allah) I am happy when I am faced with a challenge and more happier when I succeed in a challenge. I am ecstatic when my husband walks through that door after a long day at work. I am happy having sisters like you to refer to instead of haram websites full of fitna and empty, idle chatter! I am happy in this day because Allah decided it wasnt my time to leave this earth just yet. I am happy knowing that when I make a mistake, that I have people in my corner, to help make me aware of those mistakes. I am happy being faithful to Allah and the Prophet sallahu alayhim wa salaam. I am happy I do not go back to work for another week! LOLOL! Surely this is a frail list at best but I think you all get the point! I am happy knowing that I don't have enough words to demonstrate just how happy I am:)

When I wake up in the morning and find my twelve year old has put away the dishes from the dishwasher :)

when my boys still tell me I am a cool mom and want me to come on their field trips :)

when I have a dinner party for the college kids, and they fill up their plates then come back for seconds.. :)

when I give a talk at the university and then get bombarded with Questions about Islam :)

when I overcome something hard. like recently, this morning. I deleted my facebook account.

too many things make me happy alhamdulilaah. too many to list. and that also makes me happy, content and humble.. alhamdulilaah. alhamduliaah alhamdulilaah

Allah is so generous and Merciful. May all those things that make us happy be a small preview of what is to come in the here after. Oh, Allah don't let this Dunia be our goal and our reward. Ameen.

love you sisters for the sake of Allah and leave you in His trusted care.

Love and salaam (peace)
