wa alaikum assalaam dear sister.

Nabi: is Prophet

Rasool: is messenger.

every Messenger is a prophet but not every prophet is a messenger . a Prophet is a righteous man that receives revelations but not ordered to convey it. ie, deliver the message to his people. while a messenger gets revelations and is ordered to convey it, and deliver it to his people.

prophet muhammad peace be upon him is the last prophet and the last messenger.

there were 124000 prophets ( anbiyaa) only 313-315 were messengers.  according to some hadiths, though some scholars say those hadiths are weak. truth is , no one knows the exact number of prophets or messengers except for those mentioned in the Quran.

so, dont' be confused. Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was both, prophet and messenger. and so were most of the prophets we know , the important thing is that we believe in all of them. and we honor them.

how do we honor the prophets?

1- following the sunnah

2- do not draw images of them

3- speak of them respectfully and say Peace be upon them.

if I speak in error then it is from me, may Allah forgive me and guide us all to what pleases HIM Ameen

Love and salaam (peace)

I believe both get the wahi  ( devine inspiration) but Messengers are ordered to convey it .

Wahi has different forms.. it can be in dreams, through the angel Gabriel, or directly from God  ( like Moses, and prophet Muhammad) .. it is not just the revelations of books..it is revelations or inspirations from  Allah. and to my understanding. both prophets and messengers got that.

actually this also my understanding when I read arabicas q, I translated in my overtired brain "divine inspiration" as Book/Scroll etc..but reading this I realize that's not necessarily what was meant, sorry about that arabica.
