assalamu alaikum sisters,

why don't we share the knowledge we learn every week? by sharing the topics discussed in your Jumm'ah Khutba or weekly Halaqa?

I'll start.  (
links for full length texts will be provided. insha' Allah- just click on the blue )

bismillah,

in our women's halaqa this week we discussed the
tafseer of the first eleven verses of suraht al-mulk ) Tabaarak --67 ( the first surah in chapter 29)  and how in these verses Allah subhanahu wa ta'ala is telling of his glory, challenging man to find fault in his creation , and showing the fate of those  who don't believe.
in those verses too , is the re-iteration of the promise that Allah will not punish until he sends a messenger.
how this Surah will intercede on your behalf, and will keep you insha' Allah from the torment of the grave.

We also discussed the Hadiths about the pillars of Islam.
and the hadith about Jibreel coming to prophet Muhammad peace be upon him, asking him about Islam, Iman, and Ihsan. then about the hour.

we talked about the story of A'atikah.  and finally, about judgement day.

in our Halaqa tonight. the Imam spoke of significance of Hadith. and how it was documented. and how scholars spent their entire lives verifying hadiths and making sure the chain of narrators went back to the prophet peace be upon him.
it was a very good week alhamdullilaah.
but I didn't get to go to Jumma' this week, insha' Allah next week.

so, what do you have to share with us?

Love and salaam (peace)

Salamo alikom.
can I just say DITTO.

Where did you find the time to post all this tonight? I was just on a couple of hours ago and there was nothing.. LOL... Mashallah.

I know I will be spending the next hour or so reading those links too. Mashallah.
jazaki Allahu Khairan.

Our Juma'ah Khutba was about the Adab ( manners) of the sahaabah with prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and with each other and how we should all learn many lessons from how they acted towards one another.

assalamu alaikum sisters,
 you ladies are too kind.

where did I find the time? well, let me first remind you that I type "insanely " fast alahamdulilaah. so that is never a problem unless my computer keeps acting up. And secondly,  alhamdulilaah, most of the links provided are just copy/paste ( as I indicated) so, all it took was a little research, and some word processing LOL...

Muslimah4life, I love the story of Hijrah, we actually had a post about that by one of our sisters, bestmomof4,
The history of Hijrah,

dear Sunnimama, thank you as well. and what an interesting subject. the way the Sahaabah behaved towards each other and the prophet was nothing short of  inspiring.
insha' Allah we will start posting stories about that in the near future,

jazaakum Allah khair.

Love and salaam (peace)

assalamu alaikum sisters,
bismillah

sorry it took me a few days to write about our Halaqa on Thursday.
well,
we've had women there that were not the last week, so we ended up doing the same first ten Ayas ( tafseer) of Surat al-Mulik

we also discussed the Hadith about the excellence of Gatherings for remembrance of Allah. .

and then as we were talking about Angels being around us, our subject of conversation shifted to the description of angels, How they are the most beautiful of creatures, how they always obey Allah, so there are no "fallen" or "bad" angels.
then conversation took us to talking  of the Jinn.  their existence, how there are good Jinn and bad jinn.  how there are no ghosts.. and then we talked of  the Evil Eye. making sure that we remember that no living thing, Jinn or human , will ever be able to harm you, unless Allah has decreed it to happen.

what about you? do you have anything interesting to share?

Love and salaam (peace)

assalamu alaikum
we thought about doing it Friday. but  we knew  it would be too much for the children that come with their moms to sit still during Halaqa and during khutba. or to keep them entertained for more than two and a half hours.

and don't be discouraged. there has been days when I go to the masjid and non of the ladies is there. I wait for half an hour , then leave. sometimes we have a good turn out, sometimes one. some times non.  insha' Allah, just
dedicate for the sake of Allah, and insha' Allah it will be of benefit to all.

assalamu alaikum sisters,
most of the sisters did not show up today subhaana Allah ( sick children ..etc)
so we only discussed three topics today. but very beneficial insha' Allah, ( alhamdulilaah)

we went on with the tafseer of Surat al-mulk ( verses 12-19)

we discussed the hadith about the acts of Charity

and we talked about the story of prophet Yunus ( Jonah) peace be upon him ( I will have to type that some other time insha' Allah)

please remember to share you khutba with us tomorrow.

jazaakum Allahu khairan. in advance.

Love and salaam (peace)

assalamu alaikum sisters,
sorry I have not been posting about our Halaqa gatherings. we've had only two in the past month. with kids out of school or sick , it was difficult to find the time to get together.

I will try and remember what we have been talking about during these halaqas.. so please bear with me.

I am saddened a bit that no one else is sharing their khutba or halaqa with us. you don't have to elaborate. you can just tell us the jest, or a summery or just the name of the topic and we can all research it and add..

insha' Allah I will see more of your posts on here.

well, I know that we
finished Surat al-mulk.  and insha' Allah next time we will start with Suraht al-hujuraat ( 49)

we also did a few hadiths from the 40 Nawawi hadiths.

one about
Guarding the heart

one about innovation

we also always stress that everything is in the hands of Allah. that no one can harm you or benefit you if Allah has not written it for you.

we discussed
the major sins in Islam as well, and we stressed the first one. which is ascribing equals to Allah. (shirk)

and how sometimes we fall into shirk  without even realizing it. like doing things for the wrong reasons or the wrong intention, and not purely for Allah's sake.
like giving charity so people can say you are generous, or praying so that people can say you are pious, or fasting so people can say you are fasting..etc.
doing anything for other than the sake of Allah. is shirk. and there is no benefit, but the work..

if you fast for someone else. your benefit is just to be hungry and thirsty. there is no reward. if you do Qiyam ( night prayer) so that people will see it, and not for Allah. then all you get out of it. is staying up at night. no reward.

we always stress that we should be mindful of what we do, or our intentions, and of the fact that Allah sees all , and knows all.
may He guide us always to what pleases him,
Ameen.

I leave you in the trusted care of Allah. and looking forward to reading what you ladies have to share with us insha' Allah.

Love and salaam (peace)

well, only one showed up with her three little children. they didn't sit quite during the dars and they made even more trouble during khutba. so I remember nothing of either; sorry.
I think we will try again next month. but may be do it some other day. like Monday or Thursday inshallah.

Jazaakillah kheir for all the info you post on here. I wish I lived in your town. I wouldn't miss your halaqa for the world.

you're right. Many times we commit shirk without knowing it; like when we do things to get compliments and praise.
jazaakillah kheir for the reminders. inshallah I'll have time to read through the tafseer and the hadiths.
