assalamu alaikum sisters,

I just thought of another fun game we can do . it is not  mainly about Islam. but there is still room for Islam in it.

I was thinking we can share our secret tips, what worked for you? what's your secret type of things. we are all Moms , and we all have more or less the same routines, struggles, and yes, secret fix-it tips. big smile mini

it can be about cooking, house work, parenting. dealing with people, learning about Islam..etc.

let me start.

cooking and baking: baking The best way to cut brownies is using a pizza cutter.

Parenting and Isalm: the best time to go over the Quran my children have memorized, is in the Car . ( they can't go any where LOL)driving

relationships..in love little things go a long way, send a sweet email to hubby and see how it will add a little something ..

You don't have to add as many.. these were just examples of some of my tips and "how to do" secrets.

do share some of yours. wink

Love and salaam (peace)

Cooking: I wing it, lol. I am not the best cook, but I try so hard. And I have an amazing husband who will eat anything I make (including the hard as a rock bread I made once, poor man!)
Oh and one tip I love is to put a whole carrot in the pot when you cook chilli. It makes the beans de-gas, lol. But do not eat the carrot or it would be as bad as if you ate the whole pot of chilli!!!

Parenting and Islam: My daughter is still so young, but I have been listening to Quran in the car for a while, so she has heard it since she was still in my belly. And let her watch Youtubes (The Muslim Kids school kids are ADORABLE!!!)
Also, I insist my husband speak arabic to her and she has a play mat with arabic letters (It will help her when she learns to pray and read Quran, she will not have the problems I am having now, inshAllah)
And she already knows (at 5 months) that when momma puts on hijab, we are leaving the house, lol.

Relationship: He works so hard, so I pamper him when he comes home. And we have our time in the morning before he goes to work we talk and drink our coffee. And I agree about the little things. He gets atleast on text a day. Our little joke is "Guess how much I love you. How many peices of sand is on the beach? More than that even"
And we change it up sometimes. How many chips are in the store, how many peices of grass, how much rice is in the chinese resturant. Lol.

i really like that pizza cutter for browneies idea ( cant wait to try it)

for me umm my mom does most of the cooking which i am thankful for but i miss when i used to cook ( my mother moved in with me and my husband about 7 months after we married )  i used to LOVE making meals for my husband..but i let my mom and i dont want to argue with her so i just let here cook   i do make baklava once in awhile though  yumm

i add a little bit of groung cloves also with the cinnamon in the syrup   whenever i add a spice to anything i add alot   i like lots of flavor LOL

my parenting with my son i read alot of parenting books when i was pregnent  my favorite is by Dr william sears( attachment parenting)  or (the family bed)and it was so neat because i felt thease words so much in my heart and then i went on a muslim parenting website and they had him on there

i have to agree with you on the emails but me and my husband to it by phone   i call him or he calls me through out the day just to say hi or we miss each other and i think the best thing that we both do is alway appreciate what the other does

I need to know how to get organized   my house is very clean but it is small ( appartment) and with a baby there is alot of stuff LOL i dont know what i will do when i have my next ( inshallah)

salam alakum sisters may we all get some great tips

I think this is great! Ok When it comes to cooking I don't have many tricks or short cuts -wish I did . One thing I do is I add vegetable Maji cube(s) to my rice when I cook . It gives it flavor and it helps keep the salt intake down since I have to watch that for DH .

As for the kids . When in the car they have a tendency to bicker so when that starts or if we'll have a long drive somewhere I'll put some Quoran on for them . They not only know the words now they eventually relax , get quiet , and fall asleep .

House cleaning . I mix about and ounce of Pine Sol in a bottle with about 8 ounces of water . Each time I wipe down the counters or if I run out of house hold spray before company comes I'll spritz and odors are gone . Smells as if I have been deep cleaning all day .

For Hubby well we're two normal people who have our times but I always make sure that when he goes out of town to work half way through his time gone I'll text him  a photo of the kids so that he knows how much he's missed and how lucky we feel that he takes on such a burden for us .  And I'll add tag a voice message from them to him saying" Thank you Baba for all you do . Inshalah we'll see you soon."

Cooking: I am a carrot halwa junkie - instead of boiling the carrots, grate them raw into a ziploc bag and then steam them in the microwave - way faster, and way neater.

When I make baby food I freeze it in ice cube trays - each cube is 1 Tablespoon, then transfer to larger ziploc bags and they keep for a long time.

Also, when I cook a dish that I can freeze (almost anything :)) I make enough to cook two - one to eat and one to freeze.  That way there is always something in the freezer for those "I don't know what to cook", or "ack -it's already 6 o'clock" nights.

Parenting: We do Qu'ran right before bed.  Mashallah, our 4 year old knows all of her prayers and 4 surahs.  The two year old isn't far behind.  We just add a little more each night and make it into a memory game for them.

Relationship: My husband is a night owl and I am an early bird.  Once a week I make a point of staying up late to talk or do something he would like to do.

Cooking:  **Pressure cooker........... he he he best 30 dollars I ever spent.  **When I buy boxed cake mix I divide it in half, so we won't eat as much of it and there isn't any waste  ** I only cook enough food for one meal for us so we don't worry about waste  ** I ONLY grocery shop every 2 weeks and I NEVER go hungry, and I ALWAYS stick to my list.

Parenting: We don't have any children yet....... I took 3 pregnancy tests this week and they all said positive, I go to the dr next week to see if its actually true of if I got faulty tests. Inshallah its true because we want a child so badly. My husband is so sweet, every since we decided we wanted to have a baby when he comes home from work the first thing he does it to sit behind me, put his hands on my tummy and he recites Quran. *sniffle*sniffle*

Relationships: We pray together, OFTEN, and when we are done we sit and talk about Islam. It makes us more aware of our actions toward each other and our actions in general. I have a saying.........The couple that prays together stays together.

Cooking:

Make sure you have a smoke alarm in the kitchen, and make sure you maintain it, ie dust it and a working battery.  You should realise from this tip that kitchen tips are not my speciality. lol, lol, lol

Kids:

Anxious mommies make for anxious babies , RELAX,

You are never going to be the perfect mommy cos they don;t exist , So give yourself a break and be happy being the best mommy YOU can be  without beating yourself up for not being perfect..

Significant others:

Little things do count, Whether its two weeks two years or twenty years, remember the peck on the cheek (at least ) as he leaves the house and as he returns to the house. And if possible escort to the door on the way out and greet at the door on the way in.  You think they don't notice and its only trivial but they do and it isn't

Muslim sisters:

If you are suffering from looking for perfection in yourself and the  muslim people know that if this is the case you will always be disappointed in yourself and with them for Allah did not create mankind perfect. The muslim can never be perfect it is not in his character there are many places in the Quran where Allah tells us the nature of men., However we can perfect our religion it is said the many men have perfected their religion and some women have perfected their religion. Part of the religion is making mistakes and then regreting those mistakes, then turning to Allah to ask forgivenes of those mistakes The prophets are described as people who when they err then repent and turn to Allah to seek forgiveness. When we make mistakes or see other people making mistakes we can pray and ask Allah to forgive us and to forgive them and to guide us ever better towards the correct path. Allah is the one who sees.the hearts and the minds.and he is are judge and the judge of the people, if we want mercy we should be merciful to the people .

There was a rumour  against Aisha, and Abu Bkr her father found out it was being spread by a man to whom he supported with charity so he decided to withhold that charity. A quranic verse was revealed in relation to it This is in  surah an-noor or the light surah 24 .

21.

O you who believe! Follow not the footsteps of Shaitân (Satan). And whosoever follows the footsteps of Shaitân (Satan), then, verily he commands Al-Fahshâ' [i.e. to commit indecency (illegal sexual intercourse)], and Al-Munkar [disbelief and polytheism (i.e. to do evil and wicked deeds; and to speak or to do what is forbidden in Islâm)]. And had it not been for the Grace of Allâh and His Mercy on you, not one of you would ever have been pure from sins. But Allâh purifies (guides to Islâm) whom He wills, and Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

22.

And let not those among you who are blessed with graces and wealth swear not to give (any sort of help) to their kinsmen, Al-Masâkîn (the poor), and those who left their homes for Allâh's Cause. Let them pardon and forgive. Do you not love that Allâh should forgive you? And Allâh is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.

. .

In this case abu bkr is advised to forgive, yet if you look to the previous ayats Allah has just been condeming those who spread the rumour. I hope you understand what I mean I'm not sure if I'm explaining this clearly. We have to realise that we are not perfect and we all make mistakes and  turning to Allah and seeking forgiveness is part of the religion, and forgiving others their  mistakes is also part of the religion. If we do this then we tend to be more merciful on ourselves. If our expectations of the people and ourselves are always too high we will always be disappointed. This isn't an excuse for slacking and trying our best though.  lol, lol, lol

May Allah make us turn to him in repentance when we make mistakes and seek his forgiveness . And May he forgive us and save us from the fire
