Asalamu alaikum sisters,

We are in the process of adjusting to a new home and a new life.  So we used Eid as a reason to shower the kids with gifts in order to make their room what they wanted.  They got new beds, blankets, and toys for their new place.  Also, they got new coats as we have moved to an area with a lot colder winters than what we are accustomed.  They also got a trip to Chuck E Cheese, but the masjid is far from us and they weren't doing anything so we didn't make it there.  As for my hubby and I didn't get each other anything special, seeing the kids happy was our gift to ourselves.  I didn't have to cook, hubby took us to an arabic restaurant to eat...I guess that was a good present for me.  :)  Next year, I hope to be able to decorate for Eid they way I want, insh'Allah and really make it wow for the babes.  Who's next? :)

Well My husband and I just sat here together and he also took of work sunday , monday and tuesday which let me tell you that is a miracle for him. LOL  He took me and my son out to eat. Yea are  stove broke on SATURDAY it sucked cause I had a dinner planned. but going out was nice because we never do let.  My husband got me and my son new clothes and he got my son some toys.  MY son is 2  , so next year I really want to get more ideas to really make him excited. I think it is hard for my husband at times because he hasnt seen his family in 11 years and well its a long story but things dont look like he ever will .  but only Allah know so inshallah all we can do is make dua.   At the same time I know that my husband is so happy to finally have a family now to celebrate with ALhamduliah we had a good time together AND THE BEST PART my mom wasnt here , I know that sounds mean but my husband and son and I finally got alone family time

salam alakum I hope that all of you sisters had a happy EID

Well, on Saturday after the kids went to sleep I decorated the house with our homemade decorations and wrapped presents for the kids.  They got each got a new toy, a paint your own poster kit, a stamping kit, and a punch ballon, my son also got a watch (my daughter got one the year before).  We woke up early on Sunday and went to Eid prayers and handed out gift boxes with candies to all the kids.  Then we went home and started cooking.  The kids opened their presents and then later our guests arrived for lunch.  We had a lot of food, we made Suniya (a sort of tomato based stew with onions, green peppers, potatoes, garlic, and beef), Shourba (beef broth soup), and rice for the main course.  We also made, salad, sambousas, fried coulfilower, and hummous.  For desert I made halal jell-o with chopped fruit in it (my sons request), some oatmeal scotchies (oatmeal cookies with butterschotch chips) and Umm Ali (Egyptian bread pudding) and my Mother and Step-Father brought a kunafa with pudding in the middle.  I think that was everything...  Anyways, after we ate and talked a while we took the kids to Como Zoo and let them ride on the rides at Como Town.  After that closed we took them to the west picninc grounds of Como Park (it was right accross the street from the rides) and let them play at the playground till it started to get dark.  My husband had to work on Monday and Tuesday and The kids both had school/preschool so we didn't do anything else until Wednesday when my husband had his next day off and then we went out to eat at the Olive Garden and then we took the kids to see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs which they loved it was sort of a belated eid day I guess.

Asalaam Alaykum!

Eid morning, the boys dressed up in their Moroccan clothes. (I brought the neighbors daughter with us, because if we didnt she wouldnt have went). We went to the prayers and Nasser (my youngest, almost 2 year old) decided to run around like a chicken with his head cut off. So, I prayed, but, missed the khutbah :o( But, alhamdulillah they calmed down once we were out in the parking lot (of course).  Then I suggested to hubby we should go to IHOP for breakfast, but, was PACKED by the time we got there and ended up at Friendly's instead..........Then we went home and the kids opened up their gifts :o)    Hubby and I didnt exchange gifts.........

Went to hallal coney Island...just became Hallal. Been dying for Hallal coneys I am a white american revert.

Got the girls winter clothes from Old Navy. And the boys we got a bunch of toys (because I bought all their clothes last January I got tons of pants and shirts for $3-4 each...enough for 1-2 years. So got them a bunch of toys.

Husband has got me nothing for Eid nor my birthday yet (on the 12th) he wanted to give me cash like usual but I wanted him to come with me because he is so picky. No matter how cute it is he says he does not like it...we are complete and total opposites in everything. If anyone out there knows any Egyptians they know a lot of them are in to how they look....not all but a lot of them are (I know hundreds and have been to Egypt).
