This works GREAT in any pan, any shape, instead of greasing & flouring....and it's a LOT less expensive than the stuff you can buy!

1/2 c. vegetable oil

1/2 c. vegetable shortening (solid)

1/2 c. flour

Mix all together in mixer bowl and beat until smooth and white.  Store in an airtight container on the counter or in the fridge in hot weather (let warm a bit before using.)  Just use a pastry brush or clean paper towel to apply to the inside of the pan you're using.

Mixture may separate during storage, just stir until mixed again.

I learned this exact formula from a baker 25+ years ago.  AND yes, it works GREAT!

I imagine it's shelf life is pretty long, considering there's nothing in there that would spoil.  I don't know that I'd make up a pailful unless you're doing a lot of cakes.  I made one batch and it looks like it's going to last me about 2 months.

Wow. Best pan release I have ever used! Thank you so much! THe cake literally fell out of the pan without ANY effort at all. Ahh, now I can worry about other things that are more important!
