Hi!

I need help with an idea for an orange themed cake for my son.  He doesn't want fondant.

He's turning 8 and I am still a beginner!  So any suggestions - not too complicated - are welcome!  :)

Thanks!!!

PS How do you do the two tiered cakes... I haven't done the dowel thing yet, need to figure that out!

I only did an orange cake once. I used an orange flavored box mix and used orange juice for the liquid. It turned out alright.

For a 2 tiered cake- make sure your top cake is on a cake board and cut to fit the size of your cake. Center it on top of the bottom and mark where the edges are with a toothpick or something. Lift it off and you should see the outline. Insert your sticks into the bottom and mark where the top of the cake comes too, pull it out and cut on that mark and put it back in. Do one right in the middle, and a few more around it to form a triangle, square, or circle, whichever you are more comfortable with. Then just set you top teir on top of it. You have to have that cake board so that it'll set well on top of the sticks.
