What's New?

Sorry that the group hasn't been so active lately. Let's chat!

I got a tattoo last week! I've always considered myself "not a tattoo kind of person" but then I saw some tattoos on CM to commemorate children (footprints are apparently very popular), so I started thinking what I WOULD get "if I were a tattoo kind of person." When I thought of the perfect idea, I HAD to get it. I've always called Emma my sweet pea, so that's her flower; Wyatt always picks me lilacs from the yard; Sofia's middle name is Rose; and the hibiscus was our wedding flower for my husband, Dave.

Other than that, planning a trip to Disney World at the end of the month. Can't wait!

What's new with you?

What a great and meaningful tattoo! I am also one of those "not a tattoo type of person" but have considered it recently. Mine is not a symbol of my family though. That makes me feel a little guilty now looking at your special one. BUT it is a symbol of my lifelong passion with horses. It would be hoofprints on my foot. As soon as I heard the idea I loved it! Still haven't actually done it yet but it is being tossed around. Congrats on your new ink. It's fabulous!

As far as something new I am on a mission to lose 10 lbs before my friends beach wedding in July. 2 lbs down 8 to go....hope I can do it! I saw your other post about what to do when there is nothing to do. Go shopping!! LOL That is what I have been wanting to do but have been too busy with work and baby. I know I always get nervous when there is no work though and you hate to go spend money at a time like that! Maybe try to connect with friends and family that I haven't talked to in a while. I know when I'm busy with work the outside world gets shut out. Or I might go work out!

LOL. That's exactly what I did yesterday--went to the mall!

The hoofprint tattoo sounds really cool! It sounds like you're putting more time in deciding whether to get yours. I ended up getting mine within a week of thinking about it. Probably something I SHOULD have put more thought into, lol. But my husband has been saying I should get one for years. And I'm the kind of person who will obsess on an idea and do a LOT of research and then once I decide it's perfect for me, there's no turning back. So, I spent the whole week looking for the perfect flowers for the artist to model and having the guy rework the picture until it was exactly what I wanted.

Way to go on losing 2 lbs already! Are you following a particular diet/routine?

Oh my gosh, that's funny you went to the mall. You lucky duck!

I might not ever get a tat but it is more likely now that I have a particular one in mind:) Oh and where is your tattoo?

I am using the daily plate on Livestrong.com to track my calories and my sis in law is doing WW so we are sharing recipes and she is trying to explain the point system to me. So I guess the answer is no particular routine just trying to change the way and how much I eat. The hardest thing to do is cut out the soda! I love my Pepsi.I am also trying to weight train at least a few days a week. I hate cardio but am contemplating dusting off my treadmill. LOL.

It's on my upper back.

Have you switched to diet soda? I know the taste seems off when you're used to regular, but you'd get used to it. It would make SO much of a difference since just one can of soda has almost 40 grams of sugar(!) and about 140 calories--to no sugar, no calories in diet. I've never been on a diet, but in general I've made healthier lifestyle changes. Cutting out sugar was the big one--and then reading labels for sugar content. And then checking fiber content in whole grains (should have at least 2 grams fiber for every 100 colories). I've found you can have a lot of the same foods--and just be a healtheir version. Like, why eat white flour pasta with sauce with added sugar and/or corn syrup when you can have whole grain or spelt pasta with sugar-free sauce? I even make healthy chicken fingers: I dip chicken breast into egg beaters and then in a mixture of wheat germ, flax seed, Old Bay and Adodo seasonings, and then sautee in extra virgin olive oil (a good fat). When you learn to make healthier substitutions, I think you don't have a lot of the diet anxiety and yo-yo weight gain/loss. Anyway, not that you asked, lol, but that would be my suggestion. ;-)

Tattoos are kind of fun, I have two, but beware they can be addictive.  :)  My husband and I got ours before we were 20, and before we had too many expenses and found them to be addictive.  He has three.  After I got one on my low back (what they now call tramp stamps) I could feel it through my whole body and got over my addiction, but have always wanted to get another one once I was done having children.  The time has come, but haven't found that perfect unique tat.  I think you came up with a great idea, just what I'm looking for something unique to your family and with your kids names.  It is awesome!

Love the tat!

We are dealing with fleas right now... yuck!  Hubby and I are taking off of work tomorrow to bomb the house and clean.  sigh, never a dull moment.
