I just want to openly state that I fully HATE taxes and the process of filing. Why do they make it so difficult? I wish all we had were W-2's because that would be easy, but no...we have stocks, K1's, interest, selling of a home, and have to claim rent from a renter we had. grrrrr. Next year DH said we would hire someone...yay!

yeah, when you have complicated things like selling houses it's good to get some help. You don't want to miss any deductions that you could be getting.

Fortunately for me, my dad does taxes for a living so we get them done for free :)

Ours are pretty easy. Now my uncles is a whole different story. I usually spend 2 days doing his and I have to remove myself from all noise. lol

yea....I started last night and ended e-mailing our realtor from last year asking if we were even supposed to get a 1099. She replied that no we wouldn't and that gain/loss we shouldn't have to claim anything on our taxes because it was under a certain amount. Then she said that also since we were reimbursed (DH's job since we moved across country) she wasn't sure if we could write off anything from our taxes. I'm gonna hve to have DH sit down and help me. I just don't have the mental capacity for this right now. It is tooo stressful for whatever reason. I'm blaming hormones.

I always let me accountant friends do my taxes. They enjoy doing them (okay I have weird friends) and we always get a nice amount back!!

I hate it too. This year we have a few things other than W-2 with us going to college and buying a house and what not. Next year will definitely be easier.
