I've been watching this show on Neflix. Makes me totally want to purge everything in my house almost. I'm ready for nice weather because we're gonna have a yard sale. I was going to go through things and get them ready but I think that would just create more of a mess than help. I hate getting things from family too...what the heck do I do with it? For example, for Christmas we got a smores maker. We have a fire pit and we will never use the maker...I feel like I can't get rid of it because it was from MIL and she visits often. DH wont' get rid of it because "we might use it" when truth be told we never will. I am looking foward to the baby being born and being over 1yr old so I can get rid of baby items too. Another year....
How about you all? Have you ever watched it? Does it make you want to clean and purge of items? How do you get your kids to go through their things? What do you do with all their papers they color and want to keep?
I go through the boys things about every 3 months. I find someone who can use the stuff or give it away. Everything that they do that I want to keep I scan into the computer.
I have watched it. Dh thinks I am going to be on the show one day. lol Not because I am nasty like those people on there, but I have so much stuff that I have for sentimental reasons. I keep too much and I know that I do, but I can't help it. I have a hard time deciding on what to keep and what to throw out of our sons school stuff so I tend to keep more than what a normal person would.
I watch it sometimes and I feel the same way. I feel like getting up and cleaning the entire house. There was an episode on last week and I swear that was the worst I have seen. I mean there were foods from years and years ago piled up everywhere, crazy.
I saw that one too...made my jaw drop.

what do you do with toys that are broken but still usable? For example: DD has a barbie car that the seats have been taken out of but she still plays with it as a big car. Keep or donate? Or does it depend on if they still play with it?

Depends on how broken it is (can they hurt themselves?) and if they still play with it. If your dd still plays with the barbie car, I'd keep it.
