How do you feed your child’s imagination?

Posted by   + Show Post

Encouraging your kids to be creative and use their imagination is just as important as making sure they eat the right foods, brush their teeth twice a day or pay attention in school.

We gave 10 moms a  PLAY-DOH Animal Duffel Bag & a PLAY-DOH Case of Colors so that they could set up fun play-date with their child.  We then asked them to share their thoughts, experience and best of all - their creations with all of you!

I absolutely love seeing my kids imagination shine through.

One of my favorite ways to feed it, is go along with it. If they say they ate popsicles for breakfast (when I know they very well didn't)- I play along. "OMGosh!!! You did??? What flavor!!?"

Another example is they love playing dress up. If muy son is dressed as spiderman, I call him spiderman. If my daughter is dressed as Tinkerbelle, she's called by Tinkerbelle's name.

I also think characters play into it, such as the tooth fairy, the Easter bunny, Santa Claus, etc.

My kids love to draw...we make a lot of our own decorations and we encourage them to "pretend" when they are playing

It looks like the Daddy had as much fun playing with playdough as the kids did!  :)

Quoting VintageWife:

Okay, sorry it took so long. With this week being Spring Break, I had to wait for the kids to all be home.

My nephew came over today so we had a chance to have a playdoh playdate. The kids loooooove playdoh. I was never a fan of it, but the more playdates we do with it, the more I like it.

My nephew is 11, our oldest is 8 1/2, our other son is turning 5 (tomorrow!) and our daughter is 21 months. This was her first time with playdoh. She mostly transferred it from container to container, but we had to stop her from eating it a few times. When it stuck to her hand, she'd try to take it off with her teeth instead of her other hand...LOL!

The older two are pretty creative and the 5 yr old likes to just cut the playdoh. He did make a dog with my help, but mostly he liked the scissors. He even cut the dog in half! LMBO!!!

Here are some of our creations...

Caleb's dog...

It's green cause he thinks EVERYTHING should be :)

Here is everyone playing!

Here is a cat Daddy helped Jocelyn make...

Here is what Daddy worked on whenever she wasn't playing...

I had squished out some yellow playdoh and stated it looked like fries so this is what we came up with...

My nephew was working on a panda...

Here is a little snowman made with a playdoh snowman shape I found :)

Here is our oldest creating the Earth :)

Here is our crocodile at the lake

It was a great time! We loved the shapes and tools and it's really awesome that they come in a carrying bag. I'm going to be looking for more shapes and tools as gift ideas!

So cute!

Quoting MamaMandee:

Our package came yesterday but we didn't get the assignment details till today, so ALL day yesterday my 4yr daughter kept asking me every five minutes if we got the email yet and kept making me check. She was so excited to play with the Play-Doh. So when we finally did get the email there was no time to waste. She rushed to the box and started pulling it out and immediately set to work. Here is her 1st set of art:

Stay tuned for more .....as she decided to put it up until her brother gets home from school as they love playing with Play-Doh together!

Making "hair"  too funny!

Quoting .Angelica.:

my son was at my dad's when I got the playdoh and I just left it on the table. when he came home it was the first thing he saw and wanted to play right away! Here are some pictures.

He loves making "hair" with this

he was having so much fun he didn't want to put it away and get ready for bed. And it was the first thing he did this morning!

He is so cute!  Looks like he had a blast.

Quoting army_wifey_06:

My 2 1/2 year old son Jaxon was so excited when we received the package of Play-Doh! I hadn't received the assignment yet but he didn't want to wait so we played with it right away Lol.

The animal duffel bag was awesome and there are so many neat things you can make with all the tools! Ds loved all the different colors and he had to try each one! I was excited that we got chosen for the program because I was just telling my dh the other day that we needed to get some "tools" for ds to use with his Play-Doh.

Ds has such a blast with the Play-Doh that he played for a little over an hour before we had to put it away so we could have dinner. Everyday since we received the Play-Doh he plays with it! It's the first thing he asks to do when he gets up from his nap. My dh always offers to "help" him lol but sometimes I wonder if he has more fun with it than ds does! They love making stuff together! I enjoyed playing with ds too. It's one of the things I remember most about my childhood is we had a TON of Play-Doh and a big bag of "tools" to use with it. We would always have a blast when my cousins would come over and we would all play for hours.

Animals that ds made :)

This and the scissors are his favorite tool. He likes to make "spaghetti" then cut it.

We will be purchasing many more Play-Doh products in the future! I'm going to get him some for Easter and I know he will be so excited!

Looking at all these great photos is making me wish my kids were still into playdough!  I loved the stuff when I was a kid, there is something about the smell of playdough that is so enticing.  lol
