I wish i was a student that heard this girl say this ...
1st i would have caled authorities on her ... than they would have had to call them on me! Even at 16 that would have hurt hearing this!
PITTSBURGH -- Police in Pittsburgh are at a home in the city's Hill District where the body of a newborn was found in a bin around 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
Channel 4 Action News' Bob Mayo is at the scene. He reported that police spokeswoman Diane Richard said officers were alerted to the situation by high school students.
Richard said a 16-year-old Brashear High School student gave birth on Wednesday night. At school the next day, she told other students about what happened and word began to spread, eventually to authorities.
The teen was taken to Children's Hospital.
Police searched a second-floor apartment at a building in the 100 block of Reed-Roberts Place and discovered the body of a newborn baby boy in a bin.
Richard said that the baby was not full-term and it's unclear whether the child was stillborn, or born alive and later died.
The investigation is continuing. So far, there's no word on what, if any, charges may be filed in connection with the case.

How sad.

agree. im in pittsburgh very often .. all i see is younger moms pushin strollers or at the mall w/ them or at parks ... ive never heard anything like this from there ... so sad =( ... we dont really have places here to support or help young moms ... theres a place they just built , it says on their sign that they counsel young pregnant moms ... so thats good

happens all the time. maybe instead of "anti teen pregnancy" programs we should invest money in birth control sexual education and SUPPORT for teen moms instead of shunning them.

how hard is it for teens to get birth control..they have the free clinics all over the place..condoms are easy enough to get..they really should start in school classes like they have health class they should add to health class stuff about pregnancy..teen pregnancy is happeneing every where in the US and they should really talk to teen in school about it and tell them if they get pregnant get help dont hide it and then give birth to in and throw the baby away..why do they throw their babies in the trash? Do they see the babies as trash? I think mom who throw their babies away in the trash are trash themself...It is just sad the ones who have no problem doing this to their own children who they give birth to. I think the moms who do that should not be allowed to ever have babies they should have that right taken away from them preminatly.
most teen moms are scared of how the world views them. its sad that in this country the ideal age to give birth is around 30 when really thats when you should start to wrap it up.... anything past the age of 26 your risking serious birth defects and issues but because people in this country are so hung up on money and education (even though there are thousands of ways to educate yourself!) that they forget people have been getting married and giving birth in there teens for centuries!! only in the past 100 years has it been considered taboo. its sad. if people stopped judging teens and shunning them there might be a boom of GOOD young mothers. all it takes is a positive support system and the will to be the best mother that you can be. im not saying this lifestyle is for everyone but for some it is heaven.

None of us know the whole story. We're just reading this little blip in the paper. She could have had a mental/emotional issue. The pregnancy could have been the result of rape/incest. She could have been very scared.
I always find it funny that there is so much "spoken" support for young girls AFTER we read the awful story. How many of you gals actually take in young pregnant girls to coach them through their pregnancy/delivery/life?
i would. the young girls around here dont want anyone to talk to , but alot of them know im here ... in fact ive been talking to this 15 y/o on the internet for 5 months now , since 5 weeks after finding out she was pregnant ... i dont lie to her , i tell her the honest truth when she asks questions. if she didnt live in cali i would definately invite her to stay w/ me or something .

You don't need to find them on the internet. You can go to the local high schools....public/private, hook in with the guidance counselors there. Go to all the local churches and speak with the various pastors. Go to your local welfare office. There are so so many places to find young girls who need help. Make yourself known to the places that will also know them.
