Somewhat of a follow up to a post I responded to earlier today about whether assault weapons should be legal.  Need I say more?

At least seven people are dead and 12 wounded in a shooting at Fort Hood in Texas, the base's public affairs office told NBC News on Thursday.

The official would not give his name nor additional details. It was unknown whether victims are soldiers or civilians. One gunman was reportedly in custody and another was on the loose, NBC News said.

NBC affiliate KCEN in Waco reported that the second suspect may be holed up in a building on the post.

The base was reportedly on lockdown. Two nearby school districts were also being locked down.

Fort Hood is adjacent to Killeen, and 60 miles northeast of Austin. The sprawling complex is home to at least 4,929 active duty officers and 45,414 enlisted. Civilian employees total nearly 9,000.

Are you trying to imply that this tragic event is evidence that guns should be banned?  Because i could do some research and find incidents to support banning knives, sword, cars, motorcycles and the list goes on.

Please do not use the idiotic actions of morons to justify removing peole constitutional rights.

  • That's sad! My mom's cousin (my cousin too...) was in the Navy and was shot on the Naval base one night while walking back to his barracks. A black man shot him in the face and then took his wallet. He says if he would have asked for my wallet I would have given it to him but he shot first. He was conscious the whole time he laid there all night until someone found him in the morning. He has had many surgeries on his face and has one fake eye, plus almost half of his brain is gone, thank goodness it was the half that it was. Even now after all this work it does not look normal at all and the poor guy is always getting stared at. Plus he has limited mobility in one arm. He is soo nice! He was never really a racist at all, but now he has a hard time when he sees a black man. I don't understand why people do this crap!

  • Yes, lets not strip people of their Constitutional rights, I mean one pull of the trigger sprays bullets all over the place..and Constitutional rights always trumps peoples lives....:eyeroll:

It would be alot harder to go on a killing spree with a knife, people can be taken down if they have a knife..how do you take someone down standing 100 feet from you with an assault weapon?
