The final vote was 220-215.
Now we just have to get the Senate to pass it... and then they have to unify the separate bills into one bill... and then they both have to pass that...
Thoughts?
Okay, I generally don't have much to say on this issue, so I'm going to go a little OT, sorry. Last night I was watching World News Now and there was a street interview and there was a woman, I kid you not, who said, "I am not responsible for anyone else's bills, I'll take care of my own, and you take care of your own!" In reference to the healthcare bill. It was the most ignorant, selfish, uneducated thing I've ever heard. Maybe not the MOST but up there on the list. Doesn't she know she's paying for other peoples' health care right now through her taxes? Doesn't she realize that she wouldn't be paying near as much for her health coverage under this bill? The past few months I have lost all faith in humanity. Or maybe just Americans.
Mrs. Khan
What special rule did they use? That is not majority.
Huh? A majority is half plus one.

Sorry I am thinking Senate as they had mentioned a filabuster.

Ah, you must be thinking of the magical filibuster-proof majority. :P You know, I've always wanted to watch a filibuster on cspan. I think it would be funny.

Its long and makes me want to go to Washington and have a word with a few people but it is hilarious at times.

Um, excuse me, but do you actually know anything about this bill? Let me preface this with some info..... my hubby and I are working class and have been without any healthcare (other than self diagnosing and self medicating alternatively) for twenty years. Both of us are suffering with life threatening dental infections IN THE BONE. My hubby almost died in June and had to be hospitalized and have emergency surgery. So, please understand that we are all for MEANINGFUL, TRUE health care reform. However, this peice of shit bill is a catatrophe for all US citizens..... especially people like my hubby and I. Please read on.....

Health Insurance News had this to say about other kinds of mandates the government has in mind--specifically about vaccines. "The Federal Government's proposed mandatory health insurance will mean mandatory vaccinations/immunizations. The Center for Disease Control (CDC) says that for anyone who refuses to keep up-to-date vaccinations, under the new health reform, you will not be able to obtain any health care you may need until immunizations are current [the same kind of tactic used to force public school children into having immunizations as a condition of enrollment].

What exactly is the "psychology lobby" mentioned in what you cut and pasted? You have a problem with psychiatry?

'Health Reform' - The Worst Bill EverAs for the content of the latest iteration of the Democratic reform bill, I offer this additional update courtesy of the Citizen Commission on Human Rights -a mental health watchdog group. The organization warns that the new Health Care bill is filled with agenda items of the psychology lobby and big pharmaceutical companies. All of these will add billions to health care mandates and ensure that the new reforms require billions in increased fees and taxes. "The newly-forged 1990-page 'Affordable Health Care for America Act' (HR 3962) offered by the House of Representatives is filled with mental health provisions intended to prop up psychiatry as well as the pharmaceutical industry with billions in future income. Key mental health components of this House bill: ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
