One of our students came to school the other day with a dead black widow in a jar to show the students--no big deal right, until i found out where it had come from. We are in wisconsin and this family found it in a bunch of grapes that they had purchased at a local store. I asked the mom if they had notified the store and she said they told her expect to find these kind of spiders, tarantulas and even small bats in bunchesof fruit and lettuce that comes from california because they are not using pesticides as much anymore. Has anyone else heard this and please be careful and really inspect any fruit or veggies that come from california--yikes!!!
Thanks for the warning but it is good to see them not using as many pesticides.
Oh wow, thanks for the heads up! We usually buy from a local farmer's market, but when we buy from the grocery store I'll have to keep this in mind!

I don't know about ALL of CA but in the Sacramento area...widows were rampant.
