Anybody at all interested in the Senate healthcare bill?
Of course there's not much support for it...
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 49% are opposed to the plan.
Intensity is still stronger among those who oppose the push to change the nation’s health care system: 25% Strongly Favor the plan while 39% are Strongly Opposed.
But, how many have read it and even KNOW what's in it at all? I DO take issue with one aspect of the entire 'debate' and the tendency for these types of 'deals'...I mean it's either good and worthy of your support or it's not...it's worthiness doesn't suddenly change because you got a quid pro quo:

Anyway here's the bill:

Are you kidding me? They are set to vote on this tonite and there is NO INTEREST at all? 1/6 of the US economy; bribed votes for support with non germane expenditures; fake numbers given to CBO to include clauses like 'such funds as needed'; the doctor fix of over $200 billion....and SILENCE. BRILLIANCE abounds in this country!

Brilliance is not the word I would have chosen.... I'll be watching the vote later.
They stopped listening. Unless we are going to march on Washington today and demand they stop not doing their job there is nothing to discuss. I know the senate no matter what happens is going to act in a prescribed manner according to what the Corporation wants to happen. Our elected officials have been trying to tell us for years how this all works but people call it conspiracy and write it off.
Tell me Norwegian what is there to do when the vote is tonight?

Well, I think if the people who DID go to DC, more than once this year, were informed--this is a wknd, and unusual to have a vote on something this big on a weekend and the subject has received LITTLE fanfare or attention mediawise...you don't think that is specifically to prevent an onslaught of phone calls, emails, faxes flooding into offices and scaring off the few votes needed to shut it down? I do.
Get on the phone, fax, email and make it known how you feel. Do something. I DO agree that it may be late in the day, but it doesn't mean don't try...I just can't believe that the folks who bought into the Dems would be more transparent and upfront and ethical are silently watching as they shove stuff through that the people have VOICED they do not want...

THe last two dems who were holding out are now on board to block a GOP filibuster.
yes...but they 'say' it's not to be construed as a potential vote FOR the legislation, just to allow the debate to go forward. We'll see about that.
P
Oh yes I do. They have done this a lot this year. Put things to vote at the last minute so no one has a say that is what I was commenting on about them not listening...they don't want to hear.

I am all for some kind of health reform. But what the senate is trying to push on us seems to be more of political agenda, more control, than a economically responsible health reform. How is are country going to afford this when it is already in so much debt? I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want more government. Does the government think that all of its citizens can't take care of themselves? I understand that there is a need for reform. Maybe they should worry about how unbelievably expensive insurance is and stop the money hungry CEOs of these corporations. But I don't see that happening either since many insurance companies pay big bucks to politicians for there own personal and corporate agenda.

I agree, and as for paying for it? Well, that will be interesting. The proposal on the table will really negatively impact small businesses. I own a company that employs about 50 people. If it goes through, based on my cost calculations, I will choose to sell my business. I can do better with the investment. Sadly, it will put 50 more people out of a job.
We already pay for health insurance for our employees, but the proposal costs are outrageous.
Yes, I have been vocal. I just get standardized reponses. Its what I expected anyway, I didn't vote these people in.
They can explain their reasoning to all the people who will be out of work.
