Hotel Chain offers special rate to Mother in Laws
From the stories I've read...this would be a GREAT idea. They should consider doing this here.

Cheap hotel rooms for British mother-in-laws
A hotel chain offered Tuesday to take some of the stress out of Christmas this year with a special room rate in Britain for mother-in-laws.
Families wanting to defuse possible tension in the household this festive season can check their mother-in-law into a Holiday Inn for a 25% discount, the hotel chain said.
The rate will be offered between
Dec, 23-29 for mother-in-laws staying at one of the 194 Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express hotels in Britain, it said.

So the question, if you have family that travels in for the holidays (or you travel for the holidays) do they stay with you or in a hotel? My MIL comes to stay a couple days every month or two. We will skip November because she is out of town but I expect she will come over for a week in early December.

When family somes to visit we pull out the trusty air mattress and they stay here. They used to sleep on the couch but that was too much. So we bought an air mattress and they sleep in mmy boy's room.
It has never been an issue. My MIL is awesome and my mom and DH get along great too.

Thankfully my in-laws live right down the road from us but if my dh gets management in the restaurant he works in and we have to move farther away we will get a spare room for them to stay in when they come to visit. I love my father in law and I get along w/ my dhs step-mom. I think if they want to travel to come see us then they need to stay w/ us so they can spend a lot of time w/ the kids. My mom will move w/ us so I don't have to worry about a place for her to stay.
Usually our family will stay with us when they visit. We had one apartment after DS was born where there was no room for guests, unless they wanted the couch (which didn't fold out). I've always enjoyed visits from my in-laws. Now I live in the same town as them and it's been quite an adjustment.
My parents live just about a mile or two from our house but we started a new traditions last year, and they will come spend Christmas Eve night with us so they too can experience the fun of getting up at 4:00 am to see what Santa left under the tree.
In the past when I've travelled to see family, I always stay in a hotel. It's just nice to be able to return to a quiet room after a long day with family.

We re-arranged out home so we no longer have a guest room... it's been hotels for many, many years now. YAY! I'd be thrilled if there were a discount. I paid for the hotel for the first several visits, and then they came to see that is just how it will be. The visits are far less frequent now.

I laughed out loud and your rearranging the guest room out . I can understand that totally.
I am blessed, my hubby is not her favorite child and she stays with him, across town ;-).
