i read part of it to get what is being said, if the post just babbles on and on i move on..if it makes no sense i move on, if it keeps going and going about something i can not relate to i move on.
if it's a post i relate to i will normally say something, if it's just a drama post i don't wanna keep it going, if it's a post about something i know about and want to stand up for my beliefs then i'll argue my point.

I must say; I'm far more likely to read and respond if you use paragraph breaks and a reasonably sized font. Spell check helps, too!
I always read through the entire post then respond. I try to read through the first few replies but either I don't have time to wade through page after page or I want to give my answer before being influenced by other replies. I will try to read the replies and add additional thoughts if necessary.
I voted other in the poll.
Most of the time I read all of the OP. If its a straight question I dont always read replies.
If its a long thread I read the op and usually the last few pages of replies.
I tend to skim though and may miss things depending on how much noise is here and other distraction factors, but I will go back and re read as needed.
If it is a wall of text without punctuation or paragraph breaks I am more likely to miss things as well.
If it's real long I wont bother. I prefer post that have a short introduction then a link to follow up if I choose. I guess that's why I don't reply much in this in group because the post are usually too long.
Usually I read the whole thing, then respond. If I am torn on how to respond to something, I will read a few of the replies first. I also read the replies to get the gist of the novel that someone has posted. If it's too long, I usually won't read it.
