Netanyahu: Settlement Halt Proves Israel Wants Peace

JERUSALEM â€”  Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says his Cabinet's decision to freeze West Bank settlement construction proves Israel wants peace.

He also says Sunday that the Palestinians' rejection of his offer shows that they are an obstacle to a peace deal.

West Bank Jewish settlers are fuming over Netanyahu's decision to halt settlement construction for 10 months. Netanyahu says the freeze is part of an attempt to restart peace talks.

The Palestinians say his offer is not genuine since it does not include east Jerusalem, which they want as the capital of a future state, or 3,000 housing units under construction. They refuse to resume talks until Israel halts all construction. Nearly 500,000 Israelis live in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.

Does Netanyahu's Cabinet's decision to freeze West Bank settlement construction prove that Israel wants peace?

Does the Paletinian's rejection of his offer show they are an obstacle to a peace deal?

What is the solution?

Both sides remind me of my kids, and how they fight relentlessly, about what they think is "Not fair to me Mommy!" It's exhausting mentally for me, in both circumstances...

The way I see it, isn't necessarily the way you see it. Or the way it is, or ought to be. What's more important, is that we're all looking for it, and a way to see it.

It's not a permanent freeze, it is a temporary halt that is all for show like every other time israle trys to put on a show.

They pick and choose the time frames, the places that are and are not covered and make to the whole show work to benefit them.

When there is a permanent freeze on demolishing Palestinian homes to make way for Jewish settlement, the check points are gone, and the dividing wall is torn down then I would say "israel" wants peace but these ever so selfish people will never do that because they already have their peace and are so greedy that they want more.

Besides all that I would lay down and die before I would ever believe a word that comes out of  Netanyahus mouth. The man has proven himself to be a monster.

I don't believe so.  This is nothing more than a "masquerade" in which the Israeli government is participating in another swindle designed to appease President Obama.

Netanyahu is of the same mind-set as David Ben-Gurion who in 1937 said,

"The Jewish people have always regarded, and will continue to regard Palestine as a whole, as a single country which is theirs in a national sense and will become theirs once again. No Jew will accept partition as a just and rightful solution."

'If I had been faced with the question: a Jewish state in the west of the land of Israel in return for giving up on our historical right to the entire land of Israel I would have postponed the establishment of the state. No Jew is entitled to give up the right of the Jewish nation to the land. It is not in the authority of any Jew or of any Jewish body; it is not even in the authority of the entire nation alive today to give up any part of the land'... ...'this is a standing right under all conditions. Even if, at any point, the Jews choose to decline it, they have no right to deprive future generations of it. Our right to the entire land exists and stands for ever."

The Zionist government wants it all and it won't be satisfied until the original plan is complete.

Couldn't the same thing be said about the Palestinians though? That's why I avoid this topic as much as possible, I see this as both sides acting like bratty children, who refuse to share.

Comming in this group and asking that question is like going to a Sarah Palin fan club and asking if they think the President is doing a good job.

as muslimah pointed out....a false display of intent, or facade to give the illusion of goodwill when that will never be their main goal, sadly.....

(The Palestinians say his offer is not genuine since it does not include east Jerusalem, which they want as the capital of a future state,)I could see why they are not in a hurry to start turning over areas .This may end them up without any area with the Hamas so eager to blow them away. And Della you have shown me exactly what I have figured all along that this is not just about the Zionist to you guys it is about the Jewish as well. This is sad in the 1st place that this is even going on but in the second place that is more of a religious war than anything to some.

The government of Israel is Zionist and they are the ones who said what Della quoted. Zionist call themselves Jews and Zionist alike and consider themselves to be the only true Jews because they will achieve the holy land by any means necessary.

What are you talking about?  The quotes I added in my earlier response?  If so, perhaps you should look up David Ben-Gurion.
