Hot Topic (1/13): Should abortion be legal for any reason, at any time?

Current laws in the United States vary from state to state with regards to abortion.

What are your views about abortion rights?

Should abortion be legal to any person, at any stage of gestation, for any reason?  Or should limitations be placed on abortion?

If you were writing the laws pertaining to abortion, what provisions would you include?

Wow, tricky!  I fully support a woman to make the decisions regarding her own reproductive health.  I think abortion should be legal until 16 weeks for any reason.  After that point the decision should have to be supported by a doctor for a specific purpose.  If you find out you have a baby that has severe birth defects your doctor should be able to guide you in the best way to procede.  I had a dear friend that found out her baby had heart and brain conditions that would mean certain death.  She, with her doctor decided to induce and deliver early.  Her daughter was born at 30 weeks lived for 17 minutes.  Sarah was able to hold her until she passed away.  Had she waited her delivery would have been more difficult.  They did give the baby pain meds so she was able to die as comfortable as she could be, while cradled by the man and woman that wanted her desperately.  It was a very sad situation but I supported her decision.

Yes aboration should be legal at any time because there could a medical reason why a woman can't have a child. They might have to abort the baby to save their livespuppy

Morally, no, Only if their is a higher risk the mother will die and baby will not live. <even though I have a hard time morally believing it is okay even then, because God knows what he is doing>But legally is another thing. I do not believe our government should make decisions on some moral values and not others. I do not believe it is a personal choice to kill a child, and I am pro life ALL THE WAY BUI...Having said that, Heavenly Father puts the right to choose in our hands, not our government. If it weren't for free agency, what would or purposes on life be?

But is this a legal issue? Abortion in a legal since is to dispose of a viable fetus. This would not fall under that category even though they do place spontaneous abortion on the paper work. When mine was done I nearly died when my ex brought hat up in court knowing dang well the baby was dead at 25 weeks and it was a medical emergency, so I wish they would come up with a less accusing phrase don't you think?

While I'm prochoice I draw the line anyone opting to abort a fetus in the last trimester just because they changed their mind about wanting to be a mother, I believe there is a point of no return in making a choice to have a child.

I'm pro- choice so the only way I think the law should do something about it is if a women has had multiple abortions in a short amount of time but the problem is I don't know what you would do to do that.

Absolutely. It is a woman's body and choice and should not be regulated by the government. I would include no provisions.  Not that I like the idea of late-term abortion (or any abortion, really), but the alternatives are much more despicable.
