ONCE AGAIN, GREAT SATAN COMES TO THE RESCUE

 By Bill O'Reilly

As you may know, anti-American people overseas call the USA the "Great Satan," even though America's record would shame the devil. We have done more good on this Earth than any other nation in history. And once again, the USA has responded big to a disaster taking charge in Haiti, as the American military tries to save as many lives as possible.

President Obama has pledged $100 million to help the Haitian people. That's in addition to the almost $3 billion we've already give that nation since 1992. The Heritage Foundation estimates that before it's all over, the USA will pour another billion dollars into Haiti. That counts military expenditures and infrastructure rebuilding.

By comparison, the benevolent nation of China has pledged a little more than $5 million in cash and aid. I mean, how generous is that?

Russia pledging one mobile hospital and 20 doctors. Putin's another Mother Teresa, isn't he?

That great humanitarian Hugo Chavez in Venezuela is sending one plane full of relief supplies. You know what, Hugo? Keep your stupid plane.

Iran is sending 30 tons of food and medicine, a pittance.

So far, Saudi Arabia, a very wealthy nation, has pledged nothing.

So you can see who the good guy in the world really is. Without America, this planet would really be in a shambles.

But don't tell that to the far left. Danny Glover, who could be a nut, accuses the USA of actually harming Haiti. Unbelievable.

And on the right, there are still people pounding President Obama for reacting quickly to the Haiti earthquake. That's dumb as well.

There is no question that we Americans are the most generous people on Earth. "Talking Points" will predict that private donations from us will top $100 million. That's in addition to our tax money that's being sent.

Also, American corporations like Google and Microsoft have already contributed almost $45 million, and that will go up.

Now if you want to give money to the Haitian people, I suggest the Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders or the Haitian Health Foundation. That's a charity "The Factor" has contributed to for years. Information about the Haitian Health Foundation is on BillOReilly.com.

So all in all, the Great Satan has come through again. I remain very proud of my country, and I will challenge anyone who doesn't feel the same way.

And that's "The Memo."

Pinheads & Patriots

Magician David Blaine is performing for 72 straight hours here in New York City. It's a few blocks away in Times Square.

Mr. Blaine, who has performed magic for the people of Haiti in the past, is trying to raise money to help that nation by doing some magic tricks for three straight days, which we think is a very noble gesture, so Mr. Blaine is a patriot.

On the pinhead front, the Ringling Brothers and Barnum and Bailey Circus has a new elephant. Roll the tape.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the one, the only, baby Barack!

(END VIDEO CLIP)

There's Baby Barack. The question: Is the circus a pinhead for naming the elephant that? We really should do a poll question on this, as the call is entirely up to you. Keep in mind, baby Barack is a publicity stunt.

I sincerely hope people don't side with this guy word for word. Yes, it's great that we are sending so much help and money but let us not frown upon those who don't give as much as we do, it takes much away from what we are doing. Let's not turn this into a contest to see who gives more. Isn't 30 tons of food and medicine still quite a bit of food and medicine? This post kind of made me sick. I feel like a kid in church again, watching my mother put our only grocery money in the donation bowl just so the other members of the church wouldn't say that we were going to hell again. I'm sick of hearing the numbers here, we are helping as much as we can and other countries are helping as much as they feel they can. Way to monopolize a tragedy.

You're absolutely right. Fascinating indeed. It's also fascinating that those people from both of our old churches can even sleep at night. Are you sure we didn't go to the same one? I'd really like to believe there aren't so many like that destroying other lives and childhoods....

Well said. It's this superior attitude that makes some other countries think America is the "Great Satan." I think it's already well known that we give a lot of aid around the world, but rubbing it in that it somehow makes us "better" than other countries is why people despise America. It's not altruistic when it comes with strings attached.

AGREE, AGREE, AGREE. People need to realize countries provide what they can. One may be able to send money and supplies while another may only be able to send supplies, or offer a hospital, or donate money, etc.
