What are your thoughts on child/teen tracking devices?

Have you or would you consider using one?

My 6yr. old has a cell with a tracking device. They lost him last year at school, so I got him a cell so we could track him and he can call us if he gets lost. I won't put one in his skin or anything, but the cell works great. Should mention he has sever speech delay, so noone understood him when he asked where I was going to pick him up, so he started to walk home. He was 5 at the time.

I have thought a lot about this issue.

Before I go ramblin'...tell me, what do you mean? Are you talking about an external device of sorts? Something the child wears or holds kinda thingy?

OR are you talking about actually installing a chip in their bodies somewhere?

No not talking about the chip. Just the ones that either a child wears or like the previous reply the ones for cell phones.

Okay, then yes, I would. BUT...not after the age where I was POSITIVE they could successfully thwart a possible abduction.

Smarts and size matter to me with respect to how far their boundaries will stretch.

I think they're a great idea, even the chips.

I would not use them.

My kids will not have cell phones until they are over 16 so not happening there.

And not implating anything either.

My kids are always with an adult.  They are at a friends house with an adult.  they are at school with an adult.  they are at cub scouts and boy scouts with an adult.  I know whare my children are.
