HALAWA (HawaiiNewsNow) - Warnings of nuclear contamination in tap water have led to a severe shortage of bottled water in Japan.

Menehune Water Co. has pitched in to help The Halawa Valley based company has gone to double shifts to double production of the Hawaii brand water it sells in Japan.

"It's just a small portion of what the Japanese people need but it's something," company president Ken Simon said.

The company has also suspended a rate increase on the product that was planned before the earthquake and tsunami hit Japan.
