I'll add a poll when I get home later but what I want to know is do you support all creation theories beinfg taught and afforded equal time and credence or do you just want your own religion's theory taught?

ETA:  Added poll.  Also, I am talking about elementary, middle and high schools, not college.

I have no problem with different theories being taught together. It allows children to THINK.

I think our education has enough problems to add teaching religion as another.

My husband had the nerve to tell my daughter that the stork puts babies in the mommies bellies. Damn, I could have saved myself the hassle of undoing that myth.

I help teach an intro to anthropology class (at a university, not what the post is about, but anyway...). The class starts out with this: creationism is born from the search for Truth, while science searches for truth (notice the capitals). Talk about the hopi creation story and genesis (they both sound equally "likely"). Creationism is a valid belief system, which we will talk about. But we're starting with science. *queue evolution and the theory of natural selection*

Anyway, I think greater understanding of culture would benefit school age students. Want to discuss creationism, of any sort? Social studies.

I think it should be WORLD Religion and evolution NOT creationism exclusively.

That way we've excluded no one.

I am thinking of becoming a Scientologist and would like my theory of the beginning of life on earth, that we are descended from space aliens, to be taught please.

And if I don't become a Scientologist I may become animist.  Whatever they believe I also want taught.

As you can tell, I am struggling with my faith at the moment, so I want to ensure my public school education reflects whatever my beliefs not only are but also may be.

Thank you.

I think all theories can be touched on.  I do not want to see evolution taught as fact.

Put them out there and let the kids decide.  ;)

I have no problem with it being addressed along as it is not in science class.
