Chocolate Milk

What are you thoughts on schools serving chocolate milk in school?

The school I work at throws about 127 gallons of wasted white milk down the drain every week...so much that it must be separated and disposed of in a separate sewage system. Kids don't drink it and it must be opened and poured out before the carton is disposed of.

On the one day a week they serve chocolate milk there is virtually no milk thrown out.

Does it make more sense to just serve the chocolate milk, knowing the kids will at least drink it...or is the plain milk the better option, nutrition-wise, even thought most of it goes down the drain?

Sexy If its unladylike, fattening or fun, I'm in!

Just serving the chocolate would make sense.

It's funny here, the white milk (skim) is the first to run out and they dump a lot of chocolate at the end of the week.

Why don't they buy less milk?  And no, they shouldn't serve chocolate.  Why should they?  Might as well have water, then.  It would be healthier.

If these kids turn their noses up at white milk, then they don't need free or reduced cost milk.

Serve only white every single day. No child needs additionally sugared milk. It's just amazing if you don't offer a child chocolate or strawberry milk with a meal, they learn to drink the milk or water offered.

I would have been pissed if they didn't serve it when I was in school.  I still drink a ton of it.

At our school we have milk tickets which we purchase monthly.  As parents we can select either white milk or chocolate milk.  If you select chocolate milk they get a different colour ticket which they can exchange for either white or chocolate.  If the parents select white the ticket will only allow them to have white milk.  Our milk is not reduced or free each ticket is $1.

I do too. Whole chocolate milk...I don't play around.

Giant glass of chocolate milk and a banana is my favorite breakfast.

my kids generally only drink chocolate milk at home.  They prefer the chocolate milk at school.  Just serve chocolate and buy a lot less regular.

Did I miss where this was talking about free or reduced cost milk?
