WARNING- THERE IS SOME MILD LANGUAGE! BE AWARE OF SMALL EARS! ( watch at your own risk at work, I wouldn't advise it)

Have you seen this dad's video blog about his 15 yo daughter's "hidden" (she blocked them from seeing it) note?

I that had been my dad, and it very well could've been had I a computer of my own, I'd be mortified! I applaude this dad!

Thoughts?

I was O.K. with it until he pulled out the handgun. Then it got psycho. Now I wonder whose side of the story is true.

I agree.  While I can understand his point and the idea of putting a bullet through my kids' Nintendos has a certain appeal, actually doing it and recording it seems kind of of the wacko side to me.

Biting off his nose to spite his face?

I'm guessing he probably paid for the laptop so it's his own money he's throwing away by shooting it up.  I can see his hurt and anger when he talks and I'm sure it felt good in the moment.

But it might have had a more positive impact if he'd video'd himself taking it to a women's shelter or public school, etc., and donated it instead.

There's Zoloft, Welbutrin, there's Paxil that's proven, no side effects.  But the rest left unnamed 'cause they worked like a charm on me. (The Answer)

He could have just taken it away for however long he wanted. Shooting it was just nuts, and very much like punching a hole in a wall or using some other form of violence to intimidate someone into compliance. This is a form of abuse.

I think he did a good thing, im sorry but for parents who have paid this childs way this is how she treats them. I dont think she deserves the bed she sleeps on....

Who was he abusing?

I think it was stupid of him to shoot the laptop. He could've handled it differently. Is that what they do out in the country?

His kid was being an entitled brat.  He obviously felt destroying the laptop was going to impact her more than anything else.  While I personally wouldn't shoot a computer I don't think he did the wrong thing.  Maybe his daughter will actually learn from this experience.

I'm really not getting the uproar. I saw this video this morning and had no issues with what the dad did. I know the frustrations of raising a teenager especially in the age of technology. I have been very hurt by mine on an occasion or two by a Facebook stunt. Had I known how to shoot a gun I might have thought to do the same thing to their computers during a couple of impulsive, frustrated, and hurt, moments. Give the guy a break he obviously loves his daughter and is extremely hurt and dissapointed with her. It's not like he took her out back to shoot her. He removed the thing she was using to do the wrong thing. Maybe he went a bit overboard but he certainly wasn't being abusive he obviously cares very much about his daughter or he wouldn't be bothering at all.
