I always wanted to ask this. Does anyone know exactly what is Obamacare? What it REALLY says & mean. Why so many Americans didnt want it. All I know is premiums go up & care is worse. So why is Obamacare good, according to Obama? Im confused.

I don't know whats good about it, but I can answer the controversy part.

People believe that the government does not have the authority to make them pay for health care. Some people are simply angry that they do not have the money to pay for health care.  The biggest problem with it, to me, is the irrefutable part. There are not enough nurses and doctors to handle every single john and jane coming in for checkups and minor ailments.  I'm gonna be PISSED when I am mandated to pay for health care when I can't get in to see a doctor within a month's time because the wait is so long.

It's health insurance reform, not "Obamacare", and the controversy is that Obama has anything to do with it. Any other president wouldn't have gotten an eighth of this crap.

"Obamacare" is the name the right-wing has labeled the Affordable Care Act, that Obama signed into law. The law requires insurance companies to pay for pre-existing conditions and young adult children still living with their parents, regardless of college attendance. There are still changes in store with the health care act, like requiring insurance compaies to cover contraception. For more information, you can visit this government website: http://www.healthcare.gov/

People that have a problem with these changes can't see the bigger picture, IMO. They fail to see how others being covered by insurance or not affects them. I guess these people fail to see the value of people who are less fortunate than them. They also fail to realize that poor people with no insurance rack up millions of dollars in hospital bills each year, that go unpaid, and those costs are absorbed by everyone else. So either way, we all pay. Better to be proactive and keep people healthy, IMO.

I think the reason we have a problem with it is the fact that we DO see the bigger picture.

It's Romneycare.

Or, HeritagefoundationCare circa 1992-3.

I realize what you said about the poor and unpaid medical bills. But the poor are exactly that...POOR. Many of us cannot afford a health insurance plan. I heard the government will help those who are below a certain level income? Great! How is that ANY different than what we have right now then? Most people who CAN afford health insurance already have it.

Also, how will this new plan help you and your dd? If all doctors' offices are boked for 3 months, of course everyone will still mosey onover to the er to be seen. Except there will be more people there, becasue they dont have to worry about the bills from it.  See what I mean?

Um. No. There are a large number of people who fall in the crack between those who can get government aid and those who have their own insurance. I've been there.

Why not look it up and read all of the information there is on it?

I see this post as you looking for people to explain how they feel about it in order for you to, once again, come in and go and on about your disdain for the President.

For some one who has such a hard off for him, I would think you would have done  your own research in to this area.

My daughter doesn't seem to have any problems getting doctor appointments. Must be a problem where you live (shrug). Don't you think more doctors will open up their own practices if their is more demand?

To answer your question about how the act is different, it give more money to those programs that insure poor people, so more people will be covered. Go to the link I posted. It's all in there.
