The Obama campaign is to âeducateâ and deploy what it describes as âtruth teamsâ to ensure that any attacks on the presidentâs record are feverishly countered in the run up to the general election.
ABC News reports that teams of Obamanoids will be launched initially in 13 âswing states,â including Iowa, Michigan, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Wisconsin, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio and Virginia.
âThe goal is to ensure that when Republicans attack President Obamaâs record, grassroots supporters can take ownership of the campaign and share the facts with the undecided voters in their lives,â the campaign said in a statement.
âIf the other guys are going to run a campaign based on misrepresenting the presidentâs record â and their own â we have two options: sit back and let these lies go unchallenged, or fight back with the truth,â deputy Obama campaign manager Stephanie Cutter said in an email. âWeâre fighting back.â
Republican National Committee spokeswoman Kirsten Kukowski issued a response to the news, noting âThe Obama campaign is organizing propaganda teams to deceive voters because Americans are catching onto the reality that Obamaâs record doesnât match his rhetoric.â
âHow else will they mask the broken promises like introducing another trillion dollar deficit or the fact that the president continues to recycle the same proposals without ever seeing results?â Kukowski told ABC News in an email.

This is not the first time the Obama campaign has deployed squads of jacked up supporters in such a way. In 2008, Obamaâs âFight the Smearsâ campaign involved more than 1 million supporters in âpublic educationâ roles.
One âObama truth squadâ in Missouri vowed to arrest anyone telling âliesâ about Obama, and acted to otherwise intimidate anyone criticizing him or his policies.
Obama also made use of incredibly Orwellian sounding âtruth squadsâ to aid in flagging up and denouncing opponents of his health care plan in 2009. The Obama campaign asked supporters to report any negative press or emails to the White House.
The Obama campaign also asked truth squads to work overtime to refute every claim made by author Jerome Corsi in his book âWhereâs the Birth Certificate?â â an investigation into claims that Obama is not a natural born US citizen.
However, the plan somewhat backfired when the squads began to re-write history and were called out for suggesting tangible truths were made up lies on Corsiâs behalf.
In September last year, the Obama campaign also launched a new website called AttackWatch.com, offering Obama volunteers ânew resources to fight backâ.
The obsession with denouncing and refuting every criticism of Obama by his campaign is a long running one. Perhaps the most dangerous proponent of such activity is the man Obama appointed to head the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs, Cass Sunstein.
As Obamaâs âInformation Czarâ, Sunstein repeatedly called for an internet âFairness Doctrineâ. Sunstein proposed an online model whereby any article or blog expressing an opinion of dissent against the White House or Obama would be mandatorily accompanied with an official government rebuttal on the same page
Sunstein also outlined a plan for the government to infiltrate âconspiracy groupsâ in order to undermine them. In his January 2008 white paper entitled âConspiracy Theories,â he proposed that âunder imaginable conditionsâ the government âmight ban conspiracy theorizingâ and could âimpose some kind of tax, financial or otherwise, on those who disseminate such theories.â
In effect, Sunstein stated that he wished to tax or ban outright, as in make illegal, opinions and ideas that the government doesnât approve of.
I wonder who is going to call him out on his lies. They shouldn't have to worry, there are enough videos with his own words that they can use.
I don't really care. I really don't find this to be a big deal. If this is the shit the right cares about, they have their priorities all screwed up.
Just like anyone else running, Obama wants to win. Just like everyone else running, they'll do what they can to get more votes and to counter any smears out there. Who cares? Politics are fucked up no matter which angle you look at it. The right is no more fucked than the left. They are equally fucked. Some folks just tend to agree with one fucked side more than the other fucked side.
I'd probably do the same thing if i were running for president. He has every right to try & correct any shit talk there is out there...just like everyone else has a right to talk shit.
Is this the place I go to report Obama lies? jk
I think this is crap and it undermines the First Amendment.
Interesting thing about conspiracy theories...some of them turn out to be true.
Many of us supporters do this anyway. Glad to see hes fighting all the negative propaganda. Last campaign he just let his supporters spread the truth. Nice to see him organizing against all the hatred and lies.
OBAMA 2012
Just as I stated, it seems strangly reminicent of the propaganda ministers of Nazi Germany, Stalinsit Russia and current day China.
What undermines the first amendment. Giving people information. I don't remember that part of the constitution.

Everyone wants to win and will do whatever to get to that goal. We are screwed either way.
