If you are seeing a new doctor and they are overweight, would you take their health advice less seriously? Respect them less or more?

Discuss.

It wouldnt affect my opinion of them one way or another unless they were grossly overweight. Being overweight does not diminish their intelligence. It simple shows that the doctor is human and we all have our own battles.

My Gyno is morbidly obese. I adore her.

Depends what type of doctor....if the doctor is a cardiologist, yep, I would think twice about that doctor.

It would depend on why I was seeing them.   Do I have a broken arm?  Then I don't care if they are overweight.  If they try and tell me about nutrition or healthy living?  Then of course  I would take their advice less seriously.    If  they are still overweight, then they either don't think their own advice is worth following or they are following it and it's not helping.

I would make no judgement. I do not know what is going on in their life, or what they may be dealing with. Just because they are a doctor does not mean they don't have their own medical issues. Intelligence isn't found in the belly, cause honestly if it was, the bigger the person the more intelligence they would have (going with the bigger = more theory).

I have never had an overweight doctor or even seen one for that matter but to be completely honest I would probably switch doctors because I would have a hard time believing that they have a persons health 100% in consideration when they can't even keep their own health in check.

Wow, do people really judge the intelligence of others based on how they look?

I'd rather judge a doctor on the standard of care I receive rather than an arbitrary thing like weight or how "pretty" or "attractive" he or she may be.

My daughters nutritionist is about 5 feet tall and weights about 250lbs.  We have often wondered if she knows what she is talking about.

She has been on my daughters "team" since she was born, so to get a new nutritionist would mean switching "teams" (She sees a nutritionist, peds surgery, a cardio doctor and a pulmonologist)  We decided not to throw out the baby with the bathwater.  lol.  Peds surgery is actually more helpful than the nutritionist when it comes to ideas to help our daughter gain and maintain weight.
