BTW, the I word is illegal, not immigrant. It looks like some are having a hard time figuring that out.

I agree with this. While I don't find the word racist, I do think it marginalizes people so that we are more able to dismiss them as less than.... They are not less important than us just because they are undocumented. They provide a service we need like it or not. Time and energy would be better spent figuring out reform that everyone can live with.

Illegal is simply that...AGAINST the law.
It's ILLEGAL to drink and drive.
It's ILLEGAL to have sex with minors.
It's ILLEGAL to steal someone's property
It's ILLEGAL to kill people
and IT'S ILLEGAL TO LIVE IN ANOTHER COUNTRY UNDOCUMENTED.

Sorry, but you can't sugar coat the facts. If a person is here with no documents and doesn't attempt to go through the proper channels to become a citizen...then indeed, they are here illegally...thus making them an illegal immigrant.......it's not dehumanizing ....it's identifying a fact.
Sometimes, you just can't change a word just because it will give someone a feel good emotion...a fact is a fact.
