Atheists, do you have an issue with same sex marriage

It has been asserted that it is not a religious issue.

Is this true?

How far you go in life depends on your being: tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of both the weak and strong.  Because someday in life you would have been one or all of these.  GeorgeWashingtonCarver

Huh? I got married in a courthouse. I don't understand why two men or two women aren't free to make the same choice that I made.

I am an atheist and I support gay rights.  I also supported gay rights before I considered myself an atheist.  But I was never a hardcore believer.  I never believed that the bible was the word of god ... even when I thought there might be a god.

I don't think it's fully a religious issue  ... but the only reason I've heard that people are anti-gay marriage is because of their religion ... or they are just so super old and stuck in their ways (like my 70 year old dad)

The only issue I have with it is that it isn't already legal everywhere.

I'm athiest and I support gay marriage. The more love in this world between consenting adults, the better. DH and I got married over breakfast at my dads house and we were our own officiants.  We did have my dad, my sister, my MIL, FIL, and one of DH's close friends as witnesses, but that was the whole thing.

I'm a raging atheist, and bisexual. It would be hypocritical of me to not support gay marriage.

After doing some googling, it seems like it's terribly rare lol. Apparently the prime minister of Australia is an atheist that doesn't support gay marriage. No clue why.

No problem with same sex marriage- actually, I believe it's legality is a necessity.

No problems with legalizing SSM here.
