I hope the President doesn't lose and it has nothing to do with his being black nor with his policies

Posted by   + Show Post

It would prove there are more racial bigots and racists than not; I may have to buy and carry a gun and I just don't want to be that kind of scared so that I wind up shooting an innocent white man because I thought he was following me intending me harm instead of wanting to tell me I had parked in his assigned parking space..

Sam. of all people; who knew you'd be the first one to offer up some soothing reassurances?  Thank you.

I appreciate everything you wrote except the shooting part.

1)  I abhor physical violence except in fiction

2)  More than likely, with my attacker dead, unlike Zimmerman, the police wouldn't merely take my word for it that I had defended myself; they'd put me in jail without bail, the court would find me guilty, and I'd spend the rest of my life cooling my heels in the cooler.

Quoting Its.me.Sam.:

if obama loses the election it means nothign more than people werent happy with his performance in office and want a change.
no race mayhem will ensue - just like when he was elected - no race mayhem ensued.  and if zimmerman isnt found guilty of second degree murder its highly unlikely to set race relation back at all... there are so many white on black crimes, and black on white crimes, and black on black crimes, and white on white crimes.... and the majority of us arent ready to arm ourselves and shoot the first black/white person who side eyes us.  lol.
as for what you said about the parking spot... if that 'innocent' white man starts attacking you feel free to shoot to defend yourself.

What does the president have to do with you feeling safe walking to your car?
If anything Obama has divided this country further instead of being "the great unifier".....

I understand what she is saying.

I always thought that our country was unified. Until just lately.  Now I see a division:Normal people and and racists.

Now I know there are two groups----the majority are normal everyday people---they could be Republicans, Democrats,Independent, non-voters, or kids. And the other group, are just racists.

Now, some people like to twist that around. They say, 'If you don't vote, you have no right to complain,' but where's the logic in that? If you vote, and you elect dishonest, incompetent politicians, and they get into office and screw everything up, you are responsible for what they have done. You voted them in. You caused the problem. You have no right to complain. I, on the other hand, who did not vote -- who did not even leave the house on Election Day -- am in no way responsible for that these politicians have done and have every right to complain about the mess that you created.

While George Carlin (rest in peace) was a hysterically funny man, who used comedy to promote truth and common sense (and let's face it, he hit the nail on the head with this one) it still doesn't correlate on why Obama should win OR loose. I think they should ALL loose.

THIS was the original intention behind forming the Government:

Since the Second Continental Congress declared America's independence from Great Britain on July 4, 1776, the United States government has sought to realize the fundamental principle on which our nation was founded: that all people have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

This principle was formalized in 1788 with the ratification of the Constitution. That document — still the supreme law of the United States — became the foundation of a federal government that allowed the several states to act together as one, while protecting the sovereignty of each individual state.

To ensure that no person or group would amass too much power, the founders established a government in which the powers to create, implement, and adjudicate laws were separated. Each branch of government is balanced by powers in the other two coequal branches: The President can veto the laws of the Congress; the Congress confirms or rejects the President's appointments and can remove the President from office in exceptional circumstances; and the justices of the Supreme Court, who can overturn unconstitutional laws, are appointed by the President and confirmed by the Senate.

In creating this balance, the framers of the Constitution hoped to form what they called "a more perfect union" — a government that would not only serve the people but would also be a long-lived exemplar to other nations around the world.

Does that sound like the piss-poor excuses we have in office now????

Obama didn't bring racism into this country---racists brought it into our reality and created a divide between people who are racist and people who are not. We are united. I see no problems with our nation ---we are not divided, unless some people think he is a black man who was born in Kenya and is a Socialist,etc---all those lies that have been propagated by racists. That is what divides America.

Race wars? Where?

Our family and friends don't see races. we see human beings who are individuals.

While Obama hasn't been completely successful, he has tried and I respect him. I certainly do NOT see him "dividing our country".

Quoting Naturewoman4:

Idk.  Part of me of course wants him to lose, so we can have a chance of getting our Country back to where it use to be.  With jobs & hope again.  Allowing our kids to be able to work, people to get OFF of PA, College Graduates can get a job & in the field they went to school for.  Part of me thinks, that IF he does win, maybe that's not a horrible thing.  The reason why I say that, is then he can further destroy this Country & Americans are further divided, race wars will get even worse.  Perhaps, then people will see who Obama is, and then they can't brag about how great a President he was.  Therefore, making him for sure, the worse President we have ever had.  I find it very sad, because since he has taken office, HE HAS divided this Country, & HAS brought racism back into this Country.  Blacks & Whites are now fighting again, & not just the usual, but we are now suspicious of one another on a daily bases.  Blacks & Hispanis/Latino are continuing their fighting as well.  It's sad.

Quoting -Eilish-:

Yes, racism is far from over ... so please quit propagating it.

I hope Obama fails miserably to get re-elected and it has nothing to do with him being African-American. And since we're SUPPOSED to vote based on policy positions, then my not voting for him is completely justified and decidedly not racist.

Why would you be scared more then as opposed to now?

Thank you!  I'm glad someone finally asked.

Stephanie, I knew what it seems a whole lot of white people don't know, and that is that racism is far from over, far from non-existent but if what I've seen written here is indicative of how people really think, things are even scarier than I realized.  I had no idea so many people harbored these feelings; feelings such as it's okay to kill a kid walking down the street.  It's scary the number of people not objecting to how a barely 17-year-old has been smeared, misrepresented, maligned, ridiculed, and blamed for his own murder.

It's scary that George Zimmerman has actually profitted from his crime and it's scary how the police have basically been accessories to the crime, and I KNOW how corrupt and bigoted the cops are but to help Zimmerman get away with murder just to cover the fact they showed him favortism and did a piss-poor job of police work once they arrived on the scene?

My world has gotten more dangerous and will be even more so if Zimmerman gets away with this as I have no doubts there will be copycatters coming out of the woodwork shooting black people for fame and fortune.

Before this blacks were targeted and hunted out of hatred and just for funsies; now the screwballs can kill blacks, open online sites and "earn" themselves a nice chunk of change.  A genuine bounty has been placed on our heads.

OK , mommy.of.3.boys.....when you discuss Obama losing the race....its not "Obama should LOOSE." It is LOSE.

Loose is the word you use when you describe something loose as in "A loose tooth".

Lose is when you lose a race. So, you need to be discussing Obama losing or if he loses the race. But I don't think he will LOSE....! :-)

I hope he wins too! He deserves another chance to keep adding jobs and fixing the economy. He's a good President and family man. He really cares about people and what they go through. He has my vote!!
