In honor of Memorial Day, Write a Thank You Note!
This Monday is Memorial Day, a day where we remember and pay tribute to all the brave men and women who have fallen in service to our country.

In honor of Memorial Day, take a minute to write a thank you note right here. It can be to someone you know personally who has served or is currently serving in the military, to our troops, to those we have lost, or to the families of those who are serving. Or just write about what you're thinking and feeling about our country, your hopes and dreams for our future, or your own experience serving.

This letter doesn't have to go any further than the safety of CafeMom's walls, so feel free to let all your emotions flow. Or, if you'd prefer, sit down and read it with your family (you can ask them to write notes, too), or share it on Facebook -- or other groups on CafeMom -- to help celebrate those who have made the ultimate sacrifice or are putting their life on the line each day to defend our freedom.

I give thanks to both my son and my husband, both active duty Marines. Honor and service run in our family and I am so proud of both of them! This was taken the day my husband returned from Afghanistan last year and my son returns home from his deployment in about three weeks.
It takes a special kind of person to find the value in service to others, whatever it may be!
Mad love to them and to all men and women who serve, have served, and are being trained up to serve....in any noble manner!
Thank you to all the women who have already posted that their husbands are enlisted, or were enlisted. The gift your family gives to our country is seldom noticed, often criticized, but truly the gift of love of a country!
I also personally know of a few people that did not make it home from Afghanistan, and Iraq. To their families I can only say that I personally am sorry that your loved one is no longer here to enjoy! But, I have 2 beautiful little girls that thank you more then you know. Their bio-grandmother was in the tower the day it fell. They never got to meet one of the people you are fighting for.

They call me Nana because you could not be here. Taken away by a demon! Your legacy lives on in your daughter and granddaughters. Angela I hope you know how treasured your little girls are! They bring light to everyones eyes!
Now on a happier note, I know Memorial Day is about celebrating those we have lost, but I would like to introduce the oldest veteran I know. My grandfather Wesley Dodd. He served in WWII. He lost a brother over there!

Here he is 2 years ago. He is showing my son, and my mom his medals and army gear!
*Hugs*
Quoting Peanutx3:Thank you to your handsome hubby and thank you for your sacrifice as well.
Quoting Mommy_of_Riley:Thank you to my Handsome Marine.
You are the love of my life and I'll follow you wherever the Corps sends us...
You are the strongest, bravest, kindest, most caring man I know and you make those Blues look good. <3
Also I thank my Retired Army Dad, Retired Navy Father in Law, Marine Uncle, Retired Navy Grandpas, Retired Marine Grandpa, Brother in the AirForce, Sister in Law and Brother in Law in the Navy, and many cousins...
I would like to thank all the men and women in the military that protect our country and fight for our freedom!! GOD Bless you!! I would also like to thank my grandfather for fighting in WWII in the navy on the battle ships. Also my Uncle Terry who faught in the Vietnam War. I would also like to thank my cousins for fighting in battle at Desert Storm in the navy. Thank you to all who keep us safe! :) ![]()
I would Like to thank Salvatore Saia Sr. for his role in WW2. A man who I had the pleasure to meet many years ago and became my new Grandpa. He escaped the Nazi in a POW camp and never bragged about it, EVER. He was the oldtime gentleman that sure had an excuse to drink himself to death but instead continued to a beautiful, fruitful life. His wife and family I hold dear and I salute you Sammy, in heaven you are for sure and will forever remember you. "See ya later sweetie!!"

This sentiment, etched into a wall at the Korean War Veteran's Memorial in Washington, D.C. and attributed to Colonel Walter Hitchcock, is sublime in its simplistic, understated truth.
Men and women have paid for our freedoms with the greatest of all possessions, their lives. There are no words, there are no deeds that can adequately thank all of them for their ultimate sacrifices but each year we try. We are forever obligated to try.
Thank you all! To the men, the women, the wives, husbands, families and children. For your scarifice, honor and for protecting us and fighting for our freedom~
Thenk you for the days you spare taking it out on your loving families.
Thank you for the days you find the bravery not to take our governments betrayal
Out on yourselves with drugs, alcohol etc.
Now be brave and support Occupy or support your loved ones and revolt against those in USA government who betrayed you all. Lay down your arms. Educate our future generation of dillusional patriots, letbthem know that there is more bravery in NOT baring arms to kill men women and children elsewhere for a corrupt Empire.
It's so inappropriate to do this today. You couldn't wait until tomorrow to create a post lambasting and demeaning living military personnel? Memorial Day is when we pay tribute to those who have DIED in service to this country. Do you have something ridiculing to say to the dead?
Expressing appreciation to the living who have served this country is done in November on VETERAN'S Day. I can't wait to see what you write, then.
I don't believe an official day has been declared to express appreciation to the living and currently serving military personnel which means we can express our appreciation of them any day and don't have to wait for a special three-day-weekend to do it. Whoops; I guess that means you can slam military personnel any time you want to do it, too. Well, the men and women of the armed forces fight for your right to say whatever you want to say about whomever you choose to slam. Have anything unsavory to say about the President? Get it all out of your system.
You know it's bad when I, one of the most outspoken against propriety, groupthink and conformity am telling you a grownup knows when to hold her tongue.
Quoting MaryChloe:
Thank you all Vets for your bravery despite being told to go to war based on lies and coming back home to no job security. No proper medical care or psychological care to deal with PTSD.
Thenk you for the days you spare taking it out on your loving families.
