Who Says Waiting Tables Doesn't Pay? FEEL GOOD STORY!

Just wanted to share a feel good story!

http://www.cnn.com/video/?hpt=hp_t3#/video/bestoftv/2012/05/30/dnt-tx-waiter-gets-5k-tip-kprc.cnn

Sixteen years serving food in this establishment, and a nameless/faceless couple give this man a $5,000 "tip" on a $27.00 tab.

Great story, hope you enjoy it!

Now, anyone want some pizza? lol

Now that is awesome. My best friend used to work at sonic, in Texas strangely enough. An older gentleman left her a $600 tip. Up until now, coolest tip story ever.

I waited tables while in school, and years later now, I still MISS those jobs.

I can see why someone might stay on for some 16 years...and then to have this gift, after someone seeing you are a decent hard working person in need, it just warmed the cockles of my heart!

You have to understand that area.  It's very wealthy.

plus that restaurant is freaking awesome!

1 mom liked this

I remember once when waitressing being ticked at a couple because they left what I thought was 2 quarters for a 20 or so dollar ticket.  I felt SO bad that night, counting my tips, when I realized they'd left me sliver dollars, not quarters.  :-)

lol, well I kinda assumed it was not a poor area.

The biggest tip i ever got was when I was doing fine dining near the state capitol in Cal. I knew then that our money was not necessarily being spent well, LOL! (Altho i was a rockin server. )

The joint in the vid does not look all that upscale though, have you dined there?

Many times.  It's not upscale, but it is in West U.   Tiramisu to die for.   They also have really good lasagna.

This is an area right near the Texas Medical Center and Rice University.   So many of the homes in this area are selling in the upper 6 or low 7 figures.

People sometimes just buy these houses to get the lots and then tear down the 100 year old house to put a McMansion on it.

Was it classified as a gift so the server won't have to pay taxes on it?
