Homeschoolers... Do you teach black history or any ethnic history?
There is a large amount of incorrect information and assumptions floating around... Why is there such a lack of knowledge in the 'internet age'?
Update: Did you only learn about slavery, MLK, and Civil Rights or more?
Was it the basic MLK and George Washington Carver?
Quoting Euphoric:Yes I was.
Yep! I used to live near Harriet Tubman Street.
Growing up in the south in such a diverse community, near so many civil war battlefields and underground railroad avenues, Black History was a big deal and always interesting.
Naturally our favourite was the Peanut Butter Guy. (that's what we called him)
By my parents, yes. But it wasn't anything like what the schools were teaching. Although, I don't believe that would be considered "formal".
I wasn't homeschooled. I'm not that old nor that young.
Perhaps because certain people don't think there really is any black history to teach in the US.
Yes, and I am open to keep learning... when I think about it though we were taught a lot of HIStory
