Is this hateful or discriminatory?

So I had this listed on eBay, and yes, I read all the rules, but didn't believe this item fell into any of the categories. It got deleted for the reason of being hateful or discriminatory.

It's a postal tag from the Falkensee POW Camp from WWII. I found it at the antique shop I work at and thought it was an interesting. Yes, it has a swastika on it, but it's not any kind of Nazi propaganda. Its part of a terrible history...but history none the less, and no amount of silence is going to make that history go away.

Yes, eBay has their rules and can do what they want. I have great success on eBay and would never do anything to jeopardize that.

I guess I'm just wondering your thoughts on this or similar items. Is this offensive to you? Do you find it hateful or discriminatory? I'm going to post a pic if I can figure it out. Lol

Really? I could see if it was somehow glorifying Nazism, but it's not...at all.
Honestly, the people you mentioned are the ones I would think would have the most interest in this piece of history. Thanks for another perspective. :)

Consider how you would feel if you were a death camp survivor or a family member of someone who suffered in one and saw someone profiteering from such memorabilia. You might not have thought it was hateful but I see it as morally repugnant.

They made it pretty clear that I couldn't even hide the swastika and relist it. lol
I'd like to question them, but I've already had a go around with them over a stun gun. Lol maybe I shouldn't push my luck.

I would contact ebay and tell them it is historical memorabilia and how do you have to mark it to sell it on their site. Sometimes they just make you put a disclaimer

I'm a history buff, and anything like this if fascinating to me. I always think there is a story behind every piece of memorabilia. WWII items are good sellers. I already had some interest :( and had a pretty good price on it. Darn it!

I do not think it is either. I worked in a art shop that did custom framing we did a whole custom shadow box of Nazi memorabilia. Her father got it off a soldier he killed in battle.

I'd just try to relist it as WWII  memorabilia, don't mention that it's a swastika, let the potential buyers judge by the pic if it's something they want.  A collector will know what it is without having to give much of a description.

Hateful and offensive to some, of course, but it IS a piece of history and someone just may want to have that.

I don't think so. but I also don't consider the confederate flag racist. I think it is a cool design that doesn't mean squat to me. I think that would sell high and the only ones it would offend is people who were in concentration camps.

Many victims of this type of violence keep reminders and memorabilia.  It is history and if you don't speak of it you are doomed to repeat it.

Amen, Glitter.  As horrible as it was, it's part of our history.

open up an account in hubbies name change the image and do not go into detail. Just list as memorabilia you could have the buyer request a image.  That way the image is not listed and they have no bitch. just say  what it is by actual name and leave it at that.

ebay is all in how you list. certain words are not acceptable and others are. I sold shoes on ebay. I sold a generic pair of crocs and listed them as crocs. but since they weren't the name brand crocs it got pulled. just ask them how you can list it they will tell you how you can list it without it being pulled. It doesn't even look like a swastika to me.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Their email said do not relist, so I wouldn't without their okay. I think I will just email them and see what they say. I will probably try Etsy or another auction site first. Maybe they are more lenient.

That's a thought. I might ask if I could list without a pic. Couldn't hurt to try!
