Coming out is never easy, and the pressures on those in the public eye are even greater. Thank you, Anderson, for allowing your personal life to be an inspiration to many young people struggling with their own identities. We need role models and heroes, and you are both.
George Takei came out when it was not the norm and is a hero.
Cooper went out of his way to look and act sexually ambiguous, sidestepping the question over the years. While Takei is gracious in his comments to Cooper I don't think that, in the long run, he will be a GLBT hero.
