Brad Pitt's mother writes anti-gay letter to Missouri News-Leader: Says Obama 'supports same-sex marriage' and ' killing of unborn babies'

Brad is a staunch and vocal gay-rights advocate. Mama Pitt hits back saying: 'Any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon.'

Actor Brad Pitt and his mother Jane Pitt couldn't disagree more about politics! The News-Leader initially denied the letter was written by the Oscar-nominated star's mother, but later amended an editor's note to confirm it was.

Outspoken gay rights advocate Brad Pitt might have found his biggest opponent yet - his mom.

The Hollywood superstar's mother recently penned a letter to her local newspaper touting her support for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, and her disdain for abortion and same-sex marriage.

Jane Pitt's views, which appeared in Springfield, Missouri's News-Leader Tuesday, could not be further removed from those of her liberal son.

The actor has been a vocal gay rights advocate who famously said he would not marry fiancée Angelina Jolie until it was an option for all people, regardless of their sexuality.

Jane Pitt's missive was written in response to another letter published in the newspaper which expressed support for Christians who do not to vote for Romney because of his Mormon beliefs.

Mama Pitt hit back saying: "any Christian should spend much time in prayer before refusing to vote for a family man with high morals, business experience, who is against abortion, and shares Christian conviction concerning homosexuality just because he is a Mormon."

The News-Leader initially denied the letter was written by the Oscar-nominated star's mother, but later amended an editor's note to confirm it was.

"Any Christian who does not vote or writes in a name is casting a vote for Romney's opponent, Barack Hussein Obama," Jane Pitt continues in her letter, identifying herself as a a Christian who differs with the Mormon religion.

Obama is "a man who sat in Jeremiah Wright's church for years, did not hold a public ceremony to mark the National Day of Prayer, and is a liberal who supports the killing of unborn babies and same-sex marriage," she says before reminding readers that voting is a "sacred privilege and a serious responsibility."

There is none, you saw what you wanted. I was ribbing Mrs. Pitt and the fundies like her...

If she holds the views she stated above, do YOU think she wanted to raise a liberal atheist?

WHY is her opinion even newsworthy?

Everyone has one and hers in only more important and sacred to her, not anyone else.

I think because she is so polar opposite of her famous son who is actively campaigning for the opposite candidate.

It also speaks to one's faith, how they were raised and the outcome....many people FEAR this ...others rasie their children to think for themselves and accept their beliefs...

it's interesting to see such a dynamic played out

Wonder how much Pitt's name and notoriety plays in her favor? How much he bestows on her? What doors are opened for her because she is Brad's mom?

I may not agree but Jane is a very sweet lady. I've known her for years and honestly this is the view of many in the Ozarks... It's not gonna change anytime soon.

Brad Pitt isn't an atheist by the way...

He's openly agnostic and what he says is a "spiritual belief not a religious one"

Actually deviating from his southern baptist roots proves that he CAN think for himself.

If my 3 kids grow up and one says Catholic, one follows Islam, & another becomes Pagan it doesn't mean I "went wrong" with any of them. It means I raised them to follow their hearts and minds and to choose in life what makes them happy. It means I raised them right.

I agree with her...wonder where she went wrong with Brad, he can't seem to think for himself. I blame Angie..she's nuts!

Publish it?

It was a letter to the editor. People do it all the time. It just so happens that her son is famous.

I'm surprised this made national news since Springfield is a Town of about 160,000 people in the Ozarks...

Quoting lga1965:

Holy cow!!!!  I am surprised. That was kind of rude and tacky of her---she might as well have just added that her son is wrong, since she knows how he feels about Gay rights. She is not a very nice person,IMO. She has a right to her opinion about gays and Obama, etc. but why publish it for all to see ? Its a slap in her son's face, actually!
