If you knew someone was HIV+ & sleeping with someone who didn't know, would you tell?

Let's say they had been in a relationship with a person for 5+ years and the other person has since been tested for HIV several times and was negative. Would you tell the police or the one in the relationship that the other person was HIV+?

Would it matter who the HIV infected person was? What if it was someone very close to you like a parent or sibling?

In a heart beat. Totally fucked up and illegal. You can go to jail for that.

Exactly. Not many people would be so willing to send an immediate family member to jail. It's easy to say yes, and it's clearly the right thing to do, but I doubt the majority would actually do it.

Some CM's sister did this-and I must say it infuriated me because she is being selfish, and possibly ending someones life.

I would tell the other person, not the police. Even if it is my brother or sister, whomever--no one has a right to fu**with someone elses life like that. If that person wants to sleep with them still-let them but they shouldn't be doing it without knowing they're potentially throwing their life away.

Really, HIV will turn into AIDS and KILL. It KILLS it TAKES LIVES...the rest of that persons life is OVER if he contracts it. Please whoever it is make them aware, don't let them regret the rest of their life and have a miserable life because you and that person knew and kept info from him on something that COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED. You are just as guilty then as the person who gave it because you KNEW and DIDN'T TELL.

Unless, for  some reason I couldn't.  If it was HIPPA protected (IE, I was a healthcare worker when I received the information) than absolutely i would tell the partner.

I would leave any police involvement to the discretion of the deceived partner.

For the record, this is all totally hypothetical. DH & I somehow stumbled on this conversation, but I don't really know anyone personally with HIV.

If I knew, and had proof to back it up, you damn right I would tell the person who is unaware.

In a new york Minute I would tell them. It would be upto them if they went to the police. It is selfish and a crime.

If someone I knew was HIV positive, and in a relationship with some who was unaware of this fact, I would inform them.
