Same sex marriage supports.... Do you also support polygamy or polyamory?

I hear this question quite frequently and just want to know.

Just like the question states....

Personally I support 2 or more consenting adults to join in any union that makes them happy. It's not for me to make a judgment. I just hope that all are allowed to enjoy the right of marriage... if they choose to do so.

Well she could marry 2 men who support her, her maid and shopping habit. Consenting adults being free to marry whomever means just that. It's open to whatever model works best for the people involved.

Just curious but can someone give some examples of where polygamy is practices that has not resulted in women being oppressed?  I'm just guessing but do all the countries that allow SSM also allow polygamous marriages?

I'm sure there are many who participate in this relationship and we just don't know.

As with homosexuals they are forced into a closet by those who pass judgment.

I was commenting on it's none of our business what choices parents make for their children in other countries.  Or do you think we as a society have a right to defining how parents should raise their children?

Either way all I asked for was some examples of polygamy being practiced that has not lead to women being oppressed?  I would think people who are okay with polygamy would want to have examples of the results of it being practiced....

This is comparing apples to turds. There is a difference between consenting ADULTS and defensless children. No one is being hurt in a consenual relationship.

Good question? I recall a thread about young girls being sold for marriage by their parents, I guess it's none of our business in what choices parents make for their children. Sell them in the marriage or sex trade it's their choice....

Quoting ashellbell:

I don't know about other countries and ssm/polygamy. I don't know about the oppression, their marriage, their CHOICE=none of my business. I think women married to religious fundamentalists are oppressed...it's still their choice. So, are we saying that we as a society should be able to make other people's marital decisions for them?

Okay.  Do you have any answers for the questions I asked that you have quoted?

Quoting ashellbell:

If a GROWN and mentally competent woman CHOOSES to live that life, why tell her no?

So basically your kid comment had nothing to do with this subject. Why would we provide examples for allowing adults to make their own decisions? Who cares if the woman is oppressed if she CHOOSES to live that life. We aren't living in other countries, we live here...let's make the right decisions for our country then we can save all the others. Yay!

Why would we need examples of it being practiced? Are we or are we not referring to our own country when we are talking bout this subject? It may not be our business in other countries, but here in the U.S., we have laws about consent and children. Is that not somewhat defining how a parent can raise their child?

Whatever floats their boats! I'm not one to judge anyone based on who they choose to marry, weather it be same sex, different sex, both sexes, or 10 people period. It should be their choice, if they can support and keep up with it, then why not let them?

I agree, I support any number of random sex partners to join in a committed union if they so choose.

So how do you know if a woman is choosing to live that life or if they have been forced or brainwashed?  I'm sure all women involved in polygamous marriages have done so by choice just like all women involved in prostitution do so by choice....
