I thought paypal was pretty secure but I got a wierd response from craigslist and now I am wondering.

Would you use paypal for someone on cl?

Its an 800.00 item, a beautiful never worn wedding gown that my dd has decided to sell.

Nope. You send the money, they don't send the item & drain their paypal account... Even if you dispute it with paypal, they won't be able to recover your money.

Yes there are scammers on PayPal. There are scammers on every site on the Internet. If it feels/sounds weird, I would err on the side of caution and look for a more legitimate response.

But we are the sellers and I wont ship until I have the cash in my account..  Maybe they will try to get me to ship first?  I dont know.

Paypal always seemed "safer" lol.  When combined with craigslist I am suddenly unsure.

That's probably exactly what they'd try to do.

I've worked on Cyber Crime issues before and there really are scammers everywhere so I don't deal with Craigslist, eBay, PayPal or any such sites.

Oh, you are the seller. I guess in that case my fear we would be he would pay you, get the item, and dispute with paypal for their money back saying they didn't get it or it wasn't as described.

Or they could be totally legit. Hard to say.

There are all kinda of scammers out there. I would not ship until I had the money then I would also making it to where they have to sign for the package when they got it and take very detailed pictures before shipping. Document everything just incase they try to say that it was damaged or that they didn't get it
