I thought paypal was pretty secure but I got a wierd response from craigslist and now I am wondering.
Would you use paypal for someone on cl?
Its an 800.00 item, a beautiful never worn wedding gown that my dd has decided to sell.

Nope. You send the money, they don't send the item & drain their paypal account... Even if you dispute it with paypal, they won't be able to recover your money.
But we are the sellers and I wont ship until I have the cash in my account.. Maybe they will try to get me to ship first? I dont know.

Yes there are scammers on PayPal. There are scammers on every site on the Internet. If it feels/sounds weird, I would err on the side of caution and look for a more legitimate response.
Paypal always seemed "safer" lol. When combined with craigslist I am suddenly unsure.

op just let them know you will ship it after the full payment is recieved no ifs ands or buts
Quoting punky3175:
That's probably exactly what they'd try to do.

Or they could be totally legit. Hard to say.

:( I have done a lot of shopping on ebay. A lot lol, and I use paypal exclusively, its the only reason I maintain my bank account these days.
hmm. Thank you for the food for thought

I've worked on Cyber Crime issues before and there really are scammers everywhere so I don't deal with Craigslist, eBay, PayPal or any such sites.
