My radical idea to try to fix America

I think we need to suck it up and resolve to give 4-8 for an experiment in politics ... total power for one party. How it would work is whichever party takes the WH gets a filibuster proof Congress of the same party for the next four years. Four years to fix America their way. And only four years. If they do not succeed, the other party gets four years to try. If neither party succeeds, at the very least they can NOT blame the other side for their failure, they will be forced to face that their own policies do not work. Now, for the 8 years we put a freeze on any changes in the SCotUS and if a Justice dies or retires, we just deal with a smaller SCotUS until either one party succeeda or the end of the 8years. No second chances - if the party in power can not turn things around in 4years they are OUT.

Yes, I realize the above proposal will never happen and I am also aware it is not perfect ... but I am just so SICK of both sides crowing that their policies would save America if only the other side wasn't working against them.

Get rid of the central gov. Give each state their own. people in Utah shouldn't vote on something thats going on in California. Each state gets their own president and deals directly with their state.

Just because one state has a need that another doesn't, should not effect the whole country.

I think there should be more parties that are able to run for government.  An independant that can make decisions rather than play games.

No, it would have safeguards in place to ensure the Constitution was not changed and in no way could either party declare continued power. And the idea would be for Americans to all be behind it so we would still be the ones electing our leaders. But if you are fine with neither party being able to accomplish jack shit becaise they ateboth convinced their way is best and refuse to compromise, that is fine. AS SAID, I am aware it would never happen.

That are governed by the central / federal government ...that have the welfare of all at heart (ok I laughed whilst typing that) To implement the basic rights of the whole.  If Utah wanted to have its own say...then they could mandate that everyone become Mormons.  It is not beneficial to the whole country that that occurs so a federal government is there to protect those who dont want to become a Mormon.

I'm actually not totally against what you said because I feel the same!

The abuse of the filibuster is just ridiculous.  They don't let things pass and yet blame the leaders for not doing anything right.. and do not bring their own ideas in.. or those ideas get shot down too.  It goes absolutely nowhere.

At this point, it's really difficult to get any worse.. but I imagine the parties would argue for the next 10 years about who should get control first.  lol.

I don't agree with allowing individual states to do their thing because even people within a state are different... it would force people to move to other states, which would divide our country even more than it already is..

Interesting plan.

Checks and balances would be lost- which open ups the possibility of further corruption.

The for life SCOTUS needs to end, IMO-

I realised this was a hypothetical scenario...but local elections  determines the leaders and decisions made up the ladder, everyones local government is different, how does it work at that level.  If the republicans get in, does that mean all locally elected members are made republican?

If so...then its a dictatorship pure and simple.
