At the time I worked 2 jobs so I didn't have time to watch tv, listen to the news or read the newspaper.

I think it happened on a Tuesday and on Thursday I went to go visit my dad in the hosiptal and he had the tv on and that's when I found out about what happened.

I was in my 5th grade class. Some of the students were in the Library while the Librarians watched the news and seen what happened. Everyone was directed back to their classes and our teachers came in and told us what had happened.

I was watching CNBC before the markets. After the second plane hit, I went to work because I didn't know what else to do. I was living in Dearborn, Michigan at the time so in the following weeks, I saw a lot of vandalism and had a lot of friends who were mistreated because they were Muslim or looked Middle Eastern.

I'll never forget going to TGIFridays and how empty the place and spotting federal agents eating at a table. There were a lot of Feds that came to town.

I was sipping coffee, checking email. My daughter called me from college crying. He school doubles as a bomb shelter, and she was about 5 minutes from a military installation. She asked me to come get her after I watched the news. So I did. She was horrified. She slept in my bed for a week....didn't go back to school for a week. Her father worked for the government (at that military installation) and was at the airport ready to board with a bunch of military to Egypt. No go. My son went to the airport to pick him up. What a horrible time.

I was a sahm at the time. I just sent my ds off to school (kindergarten) and dd and I had a free day since pre-school had not started yet. We were planning to spend the day doing arts and crafts together. DD was watching a video as I was straightening the house. Then DH calls me from work demanding I put ont he TV. I was confused- of course the TV is on! LOL dd is watching Arthur or Braney or whatever. I switch on the news and watch the 1st tower buring. I stay on the phone with DH trying to figure out what is going on. He is at work listening to the radio- there were no tvs at his office. I contiune to watch and the news reporters are speculating as to what has happened. Then the second plane hits the other tower and reports confirm it is a terrorist attack. I am glued to the tv while dd has moved onto her Barbies. The tv goes out since tv reception is blocked and a little later I switch to another channel. I watch as the first tower falls and then the second.

The sky goes quiet. We are in a flight path every few weeks and this was "our week" for the planes to fly by.  Then the only planes that pass are the fighter jets. We are about 100 miles north of a military base.

I spent the rest of the day in shock.

I was in the 5th grade school had just started and the teacher wasnt in yet we turned the tv on and saw on of the towers on fire. Sometime after that she came in explained to us what happened and the the school went on lock down. About 3 hours later parents were allowed to come get us. I remember my mom calling family in ny to see if they were ok and how upset she was. Her uncle was supposed be working in the north tower that day but missed his train because he forgot his wallet at home and found out that my cousin was sick so he decided to stay home. What i really remember from that day is teacher and parents faces when they stared at the tvs just so much saddness, and the people jumping from the towers omg it was just horrfic.
