we petition the obama administration to:

Peacefully grant the State of Louisiana to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government.

As the founding fathers of the United States of America made clear in the Declaration of Independence in 1776:

"When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."

"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, that whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or abolish it, and institute new Government..."

Texas has had something similar floating around for years. I swear, my step dad busts that shit out every single time someone sneezes wrong. Ridiculous. 

I don't see a single state secession as being economically viable at all.

After looking a little closer at the website, it looks like almost anyone can set up a petition if they sign up for a whitehouse.gov account.  I find that both kind of cool and also a little crazy. 

And yeah, I can't imagine any state becoming a viable,self-sustaining government.

Actually, if we paired up with texas, we would be fine.

But, i havent heard anything about this and have neverlived elsewhere.

Point out that their government checks, food stamps etc will stop and we will never hear about this again.

Here's the thing: Louisiana gets somewhere around $2 for every $1 they pay into the federal government. They're on federal welfare- and they'd better be prepared to budget correctly without aid when they succeed.
