Apparently America is a disgraceful place. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.

What has America become?

It seems that America has become the land of the special interest and the home of the double standard. If we lie to Congress it's a felony, but if Congress lies to us it's just politics; if we dislike a black person we're racist, but if a black person dislikes us it's their 1st Amendment right; the government spends millions to rehabilitate criminals, but the do almost nothing for the victims; in public schools you can teach that homosexuality is OK, but you better not use the word God in the process; you can kill an unborn child, but it's wrong to execute a mass murderer; we don't burn books in America, we simply rewrite them; we got rid of the communist and socialist threat by renaming them progressives; we are unable to close our border to Mexico, but have no problem protecting the 38th parallel in Korea; if you protest President Obama's policies you are a terrorist, but if you burned an American flag or George Bush in effigy it is your 1st Amendment right.

You can have pornography on TV or the internet, but you better not put a nativity scene in a public park during Christmas; we have eliminated all criminals in America, but now we call them sick people; we can use a human fetus for medical research, but it's wrong to use an animal.

We take money from those who work hard for it and give it to those who don't want to work; we all support the Constitution, but only when it supports our political ideology; we still have freedom of speech, but only if we are being politically correct; parenting has been replaced with Ritalin and video games; the land of opportunity is now the land of hand-outs; the similarity between Hurricane Katrina and the gulf oil spill is that neither president did anything to help.

And how do we handle a major crisis today? The government appoints a committee to determine who's at fault, then threatens them, passes a law, raises our taxes, and tells us the problem is solved so they can get back to their reelection campaign.

We have candidates running for office wooing us with promises and platitudes for our votes and when elected become "hookers" for the corporations and caring little for those that elected them; we have Governors, Dept of Agriculture heads, Attorney Generals and Legislators that eagerly accept campaign contributions from food polluting companies that think nothing of threatening lawsuits to states that want to pass bills giving the people the opportunity of knowing what they eat.

What has happened to the land of the free and the home of the brave?

So am I! My in-laws are coming unglued after this election.  I already sent an email stating no politics allowed!

As a side note: They had mock elections in school and my dd told my MIL that she "didn't want the government in her uterus"...lol!  I thought that would give her a stroke!

Quoting GLWerth:

This astounds me.

Clearly there is some disconnect with reality for these people. I think the election unhinged a great many of them.

Dreading Thanksgiving with the in-laws, since several of them are crazy wingnuts. (Is that redundant?)

I didn't vote for Romney.  I don't consider myself a `terrorist' for liking Obama.  I DO agree with most of this.

Thank you for posting that. I feel like people can agree with this opinion without being a dick. lol The person behind this article seems fanatical. What I disagree with his his apparent sentiment, or lack thereof.

I do not think the terrorist comment is correct, I feel that just because you do not agree with other does not automatically mean that you are some horrible person. I do however agree with most of what was written

Your welcome.  My biggest gripe these days is that a lot of people can not discern what the `middle' is.  There are fanatics on both sides of the spectrum,  There is no shame in being in the middle, `moderate -- whatever you want to call it.  All it means is that you sat back, thought about it and agreed to disagree on some things while NOT panning either side exclusively.

I agree!

And we kill people(call them terrorist) for political gain. And this why they hate us!!

You agree with him. Okay. Do you feel his opinion is radical?

I agree with what I wrote. This is why I could not vote. Every vote we made was nail in our coffin.
