This is sort of a spin off from the post about food stamps where in the op date rape was mentioned.

From my understanding,  date rape is just a term used when you know the attacker.

Well, all date rape is rape, but not all rape is date rape. Are you asking because you really don't know or to see if there's a 'difference'? Date rape is when the assailant is known to the victim (like they're on a date, hence the term).

I actually think in many ways date rape can be worse than stranger rape because it could lead to the victim questioning her judgement of people vs just some random stranger attacking.

As far as punishment there should be no difference. Rape is rape.

I think when it's date-rape it generally means a person drugged the person in order to coerce her/him into having sex. But it's not an actual term.

I suppose it's how some people on the outside would see it.  Date rape is you saying "no" to someone you're dating and can be perceived by idiotic individuals as less than being raped by a complete stranger.

I also think women are less likely to report date rape thinking it was their fault somehow.

Date rape (to me) is when you actually go or are going on a date with someone and the take advantage of you.

Rape is when it's a sexual attack done without cause.

Date rape is rape, but not all rape it date rape.

From what I understand, date rape is just that...........rape happens by some one you either are on an actual date with or some one you know.

Where as with rape, the assailant is not known to the victim.
