I'm protesting a protest outside of an abortion clinic tomorrow... UPDATED!!!

Posted by   + Show Post
And I need idea for signs! There's a pro life protest tomorrow at one of our 2 abortion clinics. A group of fellow pro choice heathens have decided to stand in their opposition. The only signs I've come up with are "I'll be here for hugs when you're done" and "it's your body, your choice" got any others? I have to leave by 1:00 central time so any input would be awesome!

UPDATE:

So, we just wrapped up over here and it went extremely well. We talked to the staff and they gave us permission to escort the ladies in and out of the building. We stood with signs that said 'we will walk with you for support' We all brought our iPods and headphones so the girls could wear them and not be exposed to the nastiness being spewed their way. We held up large cardboard signs at our sides to block the PL signs. I even got a hug **sniffle**. We handed out cards with our phone numbers, local crisis centers, and health departments to access birth control. We also handed out pamphlets on birth control. It was a peaceful day and I'm thankful we got to shield women who were already going through a difficult time from ugliness. We used many suggestions that came from you ladies. Thank you all so much!

I agree! I also think the ppl protesting the clinic should as well. Maybe by getting on their knees and praying, getting out and teaching young girls and even some woman how to make better choices, volunteering at a rape crisis center, drug rehab center, battered women's shelter, spreading the love of Christ. I could go on and on...

Protest plays an important role in any society, particularly for those who are, may be, or have been disenfranchised and silenced.

Actually it's the anti-choice protesters who are there for confrontation and upping the tension this poster is merely showing support for women who need it.

Through confrontation?  Upping tension?  I don't see it.

I think it is very productive. She is helping to try to stop the verbal and physical abuse by pro-lifers towards women at abortion clinics.

My reference was to abortion clinics.. IMO there never should be any protests, for either side, at one.

I think as long as you go there with the mindset of supporting the patients and not protesting the protesters, anything you do will be ok.

Ignore them and focus on the women they are targeting.

Honestly, just help the people who are coming in.

They will feel harassed and judged.  Simply being there for silent comfort will help.

That said, my sign would say "I support women."

Well, I'd agree with that, but the fact that there are protestors at what is basically a health care clinic is quite telling.

In a perfect world, there wouldn't be the need for protests anywhere. Alas...
