s/o Why Shouldn't Every American Have Healthcare?
Why shouldn't the U.S. have a form of Universal Healthcare where everyone is covered by insurance?
Why is it ok to have health insurance run by companies who make huge profits off of people's health? Wouldn't it be better to pay premiums into a system where NO PROFITS were taken out of that money, and all of it went to pay for actual health care?
Just curious but where would all this money for universal healthcare come from?
There was a poster on a thread a few years ago who actually stated she was against any form of universal healthcare because all those extra people being able to get in to see doctors would make it take longer for her and her family to get appointments. She was of the opinion that only she and people in her income racket deserved to get any care and people who didn't have that kind of money, well boo for them.
Sadly she's not the only one i've seen have that sort of opinion about it.
Wow. Just....wow. I've never heard that as a reason to be against UHC.

Universal health-care would fix a lot of the problems in our current system.
Right now Health insurance wise a lot of money is pushed off to the side for Profits. And if helping someone is not profitable they are kicked off or have their help limited.
Then you end up with people who rack up 100's of thousands of dollars in Medical bills with no way to pay them. And then you have the hospitals who end up doing procedures/helping people and never getting the payment for it which in turns make them have to charge other people a lot more for things that shouldn't cost that much at all. It's why it is so easy for people to go in and come out with such a huge bill.
With Universal health-care nearly all of these issues are fixed.
All the money will go to maintaining the system. The hospital will actually be getting paid for what it does which means they would not have to off set prices to cover all the bills that do not get paid.

The US pays the highest HC dollar amount to admin costs- Take the middlemen out of the healthcare equation- there's part of the money needed.
In other words, have healthcare dollars go to actual healthcare-

So the hospitals and Dr's directly broker their fees with the Gov? And if the Gov refuses to pay what the Dr's or hospitals ask?
