Republicans Skipping Obama's Inauguration Make America Look Like One Giant Brat (VIDEO)

Posted by Nicole Fabian-Weber on January 21, 2013

obamaToday marks the second Presidential Inauguration for Barack Obama. Actually, the President was officially sworn in yesterday in a private ceremony in the White House Blue Room, but today's the day that all the pomp and circumstance and Beyonce will take place. At 11:30 a.m. today, the great politicians of our fine country will put their party differences aside and bind together in front of the Capitol Building with the same common goal of making the next four years the best they can possibly be for the citizens of the United States.

Psych!

Many Republicans are blowing the pop that is D.C. stand in favor for locales where fruity-flavored drinks served in halved coconuts are a plenty. If you can't beam 'em ... peace out, I guess?

According to Yahoo!, many Republicans and supporters of GOP candidate Mitt Romney are "are leaving town for sunny vacation destinations and company conferences or staying indoors and avoiding the crowds." Charlie Spies, attorney and co-founder of a pro-Romney super PAC, was hosting about 100 Republicans in Las Vegas for this weekend (including some former Romney campaign aides). Events took place at the Wynn Las Vegas and Venetian Resort Hotel Casino. Spies held a similar gathering four years ago for about 20 friends, but this year, more people's interest seemed to have been piqued. Spies said: "I was expecting more than 20 but no place near this response. I think people were excited to have an opportunity to be someplace other than D.C. and let President Obama and his supporters have their day in the sun."

Similarly, Ron Bonjean, a former Bush administration and congressional aide who runs a public affairs firm, held a work retreat at a resort in Mexico, saying: "It's the perfect time for us to be productive and focused on the year ahead while Washington is consumed with swearing in the president." You know, because if work's going to get done, where better place than a resort in Mexico?

Passive-aggressive comments like these are a huge part of what's wrong with America. We're more divided than ever, and I don't doubt for a nano-second that if the outcome were different, and Romney were being sworn in, Democrats would be doing the same thing.

It really doesn't seem like it's about the people anymore or building a better country. It seems like it's more about petulant men and women being consumed with "winning".

These are the people who are running the United States. Seriously. Didn't the inauguration used to be about coming together? I know there are plenty of people who are displeased with Obama's re-election, but this just seems like a bunch of spoiled rich brats pouting. It's ridiculous. And it definitely doesn't seem like a "band together" moment for our nation.

"Normal" people in their every day lives don't seem to have a problem finding middle ground with others. Don't we do it all the time? At work; at home; etc. (No, not on Internet comment boards.) Hopefully, Washington will be able to follow suit again some day. God Bless America ... right?

Here's a video of what the inauguration means to the President:

Couldn't be happier! I wish we'd have been there. And I'm glad it passed without "incident," if you get my drift. I worry about the safety of the President with all the angry nutcases we've got in this country.

It is what it is. I don't think much will change our course short of a cataclysm.

what these ladies said. I had a group of teenagers at my house today watching it unfold. A very diverse group of young kids. I saw the hope in their eyes, and felt the excitement they hold for the future. I saw one young tough guy shed a tear when he talked about immigration reform and another young lady just said she wished her grandmother had lived to see this day as she had marched on washington in the 60's with MLK. And you know what bless there little hearts they all clapped when he talked about protecting our environment for our future. Of course the boys all started talking crap when Beonce took the stage lol.
