Maybe if We All Prayed Together for the Little Boy in the Bunker . . .
Maybe, if we all prayed this morning, right now, today -- to any God or Higher Power you choose, if only for 30 seconds-- that . .
Young Ethan in that frightening underground hell-hole, will feel peace, and the knowledge that that he is loved, and not give up hope.
Ethan's mother will know that so many surround her in spirit, give their emotional support, and stand by her in solidarity against senseless violence.
Old Dyke, blistering with anger, fear and hatred, will realize the boy is just an innocent, has done nothing to hurt him, and give himself up.
All the emergency responders will maintain their composure and act with rational thought to bring this grievous standoff to an end.
Maybe, if we all prayed . . .
I guess posting about a current event is okay, as long as we keep our opinions about the event to ourselves? Hmm. Interesting perspective. I usually run in different circles. Ones in which people don't have such an axe to grind. I have no problem with true debate. But what's happening here is not debate. It's prejudice and ridicule. Debate implies a civil discussion. And this ain't it. There's also something called live and let live. Not a bad philosophy, either.
Quoting pansyprincess:
It is a debate group. Why would you post this here if you didn't want to be debated? Go post it in a Prayer group ...
Quoting candlegal:
Only in this group can a post about praying for someone be attacked.
as do many christians here.
Quoting 3lilladies81:
You're kidding right? The women in here do it ALL the time and are very hateful about it, but your not a Christian so I bet you never noticed.
Quoting ..MoonShine..:
*sigh* Do you like someone to tell you your beliefs are wrong? I doubt it. Yet you felt the need to try and invalidate hers.
Quoting 3lilladies81:
Prayer does work and God doesn't stop answering just because YOU don't believe!
Quoting Veni.Vidi.Vici.:Is this a joke?
I want peace and freedom for that poor child and if I felt prayer worked I would have been praying and I would continue until he was free.

Quoting MentorMom1:But I wouldn't be the one dissing you : )
Quoting ..MoonShine..:
Are you surprised? Really? Prayer works for you...and me, even though we don't pray to the same god. It doesn't work for everyone. I think you must be kidding yourself if you think you can make a post like this without getting replies like that. Should it be different? Yes. Is it? No. If I make a post about my beliefs I am always prepared for someone to come out of the woodwork and call me a Satan worshipper or even just looney. It's just the way it is on CM.
Quoting MentorMom1:
I am disgusted beyond imagination by the many immature and utterly pathetic responses to this post. No one knows why prayer works, or why sometimes prayers seem to go unanswered. But I do know that in my own life, I have been amazed: A husband, jobs, houses, grandchildren, students that I needed and who needed me.
For those who do not believe in the power of prayer, that's fine. You might want to read a book entitled, The Science of Making Things Happen, if science is something you relate to. I loved the book.
The ability to choose peace and understanding among people, and the will to do so, comes with many blessings.
Thanks. Forgiven and forgotten.
Quoting ..MoonShine..:
Awesome. Not everyone operates the same. I'm sorry your post didn't go the way you'd hoped...I know your intentions were good (in spite of my smart ass original reply).
Quoting MentorMom1:
But I wouldn't be the one dissing you : )

She didn't say anything about religion. She said IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOUR NOT CHRISTIAN. I'm Catholic and still praying for the little boy. It's about the little boy NOT religion that MentorMom1 is trying to get people to pray for. If you don't want to then don't but. You don't have to be so rude.
Quoting MentorMom1:
I'm afraid you miss the point.
Quoting ..MoonShine..:
I have been-but likely not to the same god that you want me to. I'm sorry you are only now thinking to do so. And only fir 30 seconds.
Oh, yeah...but that's more of a special event, like the "War on Christmas".
Quoting SuperChicken:
Quoting GLWerth:
According to my calendar here, Poor Persecuted Christian Week is next week....we're still supposed to be on "Poor Persecuted Gun Nuts" and "Obama is the Debil" this week.
Don't forget it's February. We have to have a "why do Black People get a WHOLE MONTH!" week.
Quoting LoveMyBoyK:
And there is the expected dodge.
Quoting 3lilladies81:
Ok whatever you say
Quoting pansyprincess:No, you've had something happen that you prayed for. That doesn't mean anyone made it happen. I really really hope that my husband doesn't die today. If he doesn't, does that mean god stepped in? No, it just means I happened to want something that happened.
So god wanted those kids to die in Newtown, Ct?
Quoting 3lilladies81:
Yes He does all the time! I'm sure his parents have been just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it won't. Prayer does work I've experienced it personally and seen it work for others.
Quoting pansyprincess:
If prayer worked, this boy would be safe and sound. Do you think that his parents have taken even a moment to STOP praying and asking for his return? Do you thnk an instant goes by when they aren't URGING some higher power to help them?
Prayer doesn't work. And it's insulting to say that it does. Does your god step in and help people when they are prayed for? Will he save this boy? If this boy dies, did god ignore all the prayers?
Quoting 3lilladies81:
Prayer does work and God doesn't stop answering just because YOU don't believe!

We all pray to the same God but different religions have a different name and description for God. So, just pray. Or if you don't believe in God, pray to something. Or don't. But lets be kind. We were talking about a little boy who is a victim of a maniac in a bunker.
